Not to get off track here (I know, this is the main forum, Raider talk only), but being that we're a little more than 24 hours away from the trade deadline and division races are heating up, get your asses to this thread.

I don't think it was quite the steal people think.

1. He is not the same Pudge circa 5-6 years ago.
2. They lessened their 'pen
3. What does it say that DET was splitting time with him, and they prefered Inge at C at this point.

Yes, I know he is fiery, a motivator, and a tough guy (very good locker room presence). And that will help this sometimes lackluster Yankee team. And yes, Farnsworth is still not yet a trusted arm in a big spot and not a guy that is the first option out of a pen in a jam. But he was having a decent season, the Yank pen was doign alright with him, and considering the needs of the club at this point, I would rather have stayed with him, and managed with the C situation the way it is.

If guys like AROD, Jeter and the plethora of other solid hitters were to do their jobs in a clutch fashion this season and in a more consistent way, they would be better off.

I think the names; 'Pudge' for Farsnworth -- yes, it sounds like a steal. But IMO, if you look at it at their current level of functioning, its not the heist many think.

Plus, lets be honest too...

DET is horrible in the pen and they needed to add arms there badly.

Totally agree. It's not even fun to watch in person. Only reason I do watch it this time of year is because football, hockey, NLL, and basketball are off season and socker and rugby aren't televised often enough. Baseball is filler during the most boring part of the year.

That said, my Rockies need a new pitcher and all this talk of trading Holiday is bull IMHO. To tell you how much baseball I've watched, I don't even have a clue what my other two teams of interest (A's/Giants) need.
