brand new to the community, not the nation.

Hello fellow Raider fans, excited to be part of the community, a little about me I started getting into football around 1976 and almost immediately decided my team was the Raiders.

As you can probably guess my favorite Raider is and will always be the Stork (Ted Hendricks), I just loved his play making ability, always coming up with the big sack or blocking the game winning field goal. It always seemed the bigger the game the bigger he played.

Lately the raiders have been down a little, but I have hope, the division is definitely winnable. Getting Rolando McClain in camp today or soon is an absolute necessity.

see you around the boards

Hello

Hi John,

I'm new to the forum, too. As the title suggests, I'm from Detroit. I think Maclain <SP?> is going to be a good addition. I was kind of hoping for Terrence Cody as the second draft choice, but now I'm beginning to understand why that didn't happen. I'm still unsold on Campbell.

Go Raiders!!

How the Oakland Raiders chose its name ?

One of the most frequently asked questions of the Hall of Fame’s research staff is how a particular NFL team chose its name. Sometimes the answer is obvious and other times it is not so clear-cut.

The name of a team competition was organized by a local newspaper, and the winner was the SE of Oakland? ORs. By weeks end, after the target of local jokes of the young team (and owners) changed the name of the team the Oakland Raiders, the third in the naming contest. The original team colors were black, gold and white. The team emblem of a pirate (or raider ) wearing a football helmet was created, apparently an interpretation of the actor Randolph Scott.
