so yeah... the anti-raider bull**** has already begun.

my brother-in-law is all up in arms over my switching to the raiders. this is the same man that begged me for years to ditch the titans, because he thought the browns were tailor made for me... but mostly just though the titans were never going to get it together and that it would take a fool to cheer for them.

once he heard i was leaning towards becoming a raiders fan, he chimed in with all these opinions about how i should cheer for the patriots (birthplace) or the cowboys (hometown) or somewhere that i have ties to. i've never been west of Ft. Worth, so it's true that the only ties i have to the Raiders organization are that i had a Los Angeles Raiders script baseball cap when i was in elementary school... but i've got a ton of raiders fan friends, and i don't think i need ties to a region to be a fan of a team.

then it hit me how much of a hypocrite he is... this is my brother-in-law that, when i met him, had only lived in texas in his entire life. the same region of the metroplex... and he was a chicago cubs fan... and a new york jets fan... since then, he's become less vocal about the jets, but also claims he's a dual cowboys/jets fan, and since then he also moved to chicago with my sister while she was in medical school, but his loyalty to the cubs predates his living there for a few years in the 2000s...

am i crazy in thinking he's a hypocrite? and if you ask me, isn't split allegiances a worse crime than divorcing your old team?

i figure most of you will get a kick out of this quote from my facebook he left for me, too... apparently the raiders are douches.

"You won't feel like a fraud when the Raiders go to the playoffs and you are rooting for them and have no appreciation for what they have been through because you picked them out of a hat?

Think about the joy of being a Stars fan. Will you even have a 1/10th of that with the Raiders? If being douchbags is the reason you hate the Cowboys then welcome to the biggest douchebag franchise the NFL has to offer the Oakland/LA/Oakland/LA/Oakland Raiders.

Don't buy a jersey, the Raiders will just ruin him or trade him. It is their legacy..."

either way, i'm not shaken. i'm dedicated to this switch, and looking to soak up anything raider related i can find.
