Need help putting a phone number in the middle of pictures

Ive been putting call (xxx) xxx-xxxx on some pics so they cant beat stolen. But using infraview to do this seems to make the pictures look more grainy. What should I use to do this so the pics dont change? Can I do it with photo shop? Also what is the best setting for dig cameras to take the best pics for pics to be viewed online? what size setting? Thanks in advance

Hey KITM.
since the pic will only be viewed at 72dpi, the resolution can be minimum on the camera setting.
You can do this in Photoshop.
(I'm not familiar with infraview, but it sounds more like the Font selection or program that causes this to look grainy.)

Some fonts do not work well when reduced to smaller size.
Georgia, Chicago, Helvetica to name a few work really well when used to make small print online.
The fancier the font, the worse it will look when you reduce it to view online.

Are you referring to making a 'watermark?' This however still won't prevent users from stealing images. Also, be aware that there are two types of watermarking:
Visible - This is when you type text onto an image to let the person viewing it that the image belongs to the author or a logo like the one I usually place on the images I upload for my front page articles. In either case, the text or logo is 'faded' or dimmed to the point that it is still visible but not so intrusive that it takes away from the image itself. Sometimes, many proprietors will actually blanket the text or logo right over the image itself.


Invisible - A limited number of programs that utilize a special algorithm to place an invisible watermark that can contain the authors name, copyright date, or other information pertaining to the digital rights of the author.

What it sounds like is you're having a problem with the INvisible watermark. Usually, there is a setting that is adjustable that allows you to make the watermark stronger or weaker. The stronger you make the invisible watermark, the chances for affecting the visual apperance of the image increases quite noticably. Here's an example:

No watermark - Image looks as it should/unaltered


Low watermark algorithm - notice how there is a subtle change? The level of graininess increses ever so slightly, perhaps undetectable to the untrained eye.


High watermark - The image has become quite noticably grainy. The higher or heaviness of the invisible watermark, the larger the file size will become.

I'm starting with a fresh picture. Before uploading the picture online I would like to pyt a phone number on it. What is the best way to do this? What font would work well?

My bad...I thought you were trying to insert a text watermark.

The regular "Arial" font looks good and clean and professional too. It's the text at the bottom left of the bellow picture:


I use photoshop for my phto editing. Are you needing a free basic photo editing software that allows you to use multiple font styles?

Dee I heard you were the expert and I was just about to PM you. I will give that a shot. I had just looked at that program an hour agaoi. I have a mess of photo image editing programs already so one more wont hurt, lol.


Good news is I found software to make the the anmated avatars really easy. I already made 2 perfect ones in 10 minutes. Thanks a bunch. If I have any more problems do you mind a PM?
