pro style offense?

I have a question. With all this talk about Sark coming from USC and the fact they run a pro style offense can someone explain to me exactly what a "pro style offense" consists of? I realize it is similar to what the NFL runs, but what signifies the difference between a traditional college offense and a pro style offense?

In our game here Pro is defined as plays where the QB is under centre rather than in shotgun. We dont run a lot of shotgun and generally run a pro offence and playbook which is 200 pages long!!!

In college they fun a wing-T or option type offense...in the pro's its more undercenter type offense

do you mean the Pro Set offense? Pro Set and Pro Style often get confused...a pro style offense is basically an offense used on the professional level...a pro set offense or split back formation is the most common formation used in football with the QB under center and the HB and FB are lined up side by side as opposed to the I

college has a lot of "option" plays, spread offenses, and a lot of shotgun. NFL is more conventional, under center plays

At USC it's moreof a well ballanced offense with not too much shotgun but you do see it. As Concord pointed out to you you can run option plays spread offense and shotgun, but in the NFL it's more QB under center(GOOD CALL). What's great is that Mark Sanchez is mobile along with having a good arm. He is more mobile than John David Booty, Matt Leinart, and Carson Palmer that's for sure. He came up big last week in a 52-7 smackdown my boys of Troy laid on Virginia in ther own home.

One caveat though don't think USC is just all about running back U. Sure they have great tailbacks like Joe McKnight as the featured back, CJ Gable and Stephan Johnson(SP). CJ Gable and Stephan Johnson are good enough to start in most D1 schools, but they also get their WR's involved. The only knock on the wr's is that they have a great ammount of tallent, but in Pete Carroll's system it's hard to rack up stats. You got to check your ego at the door because for the most part it's the QB who gets all the stats, but he also will be harpooned by the LA media if he loses just one game.

In a pro style offense you obviously need a good offensive line, good wr's good pass catching and run blocking te's a good rotation of running backs and of course the most important position a solid QB. The only knock on USC is thier "inexperienced 0 line" which played great last week from what I can gather. What people don't understand is that Pete Carroll also loves to use his tight ends and fullbacks as well. Everyone is happy because they all get to touch the football.

From a USC alum
Fight on.

Bring on the Ohio State Suckeyes Just kidding they are a good team but they won't beat us in our house.
