My dad had prostate cancer, but last night was his operation everything went well

Well I didn't want to mention this until I khew everything is ok. About a month ago my dad had some serious pain. It's a good thing that my mother and I buth convinced him to go see a doctor. He went down to USC which has a great facility, and they diagnosed him with prostate cancer. The good news is that it was CAUGHT IN THE EARLY STAGES, so it could be removed.

He didn't want to explain too much detail about what was going on, but there is this relatively new surgery that has been out now for about five to ten years. It's the cutting edge state of the art surgery for this that's all I know. Last night my dad called me up and said, "Son wear your JaMarcus Russell jersey when you come to visit me for good luck." See if it's four teams my dad dies for it's the Raiders, the Lakers, the Iranian national soccer team,and the Michigan State Spartans(his alma mater).

He's a hardcore Raider fan and he's the one who got me into the Raiders at an early age. My girlfriend, who bought me the authentic J Russell jersey, asked if she could come with me. EVERYTHING WENT BEAUTIFULLY and the operation went great. I just left the JaMarcus Russell jersey by his side for some good luck and everything went ok.

Today he is kind of grogy amd out of it a bit but he will be comming back home tomorrow. My lady decided to take another day off so she can stay at the hospital with him. I'm home right now and I am just cleaning up my house, so when my dad comes everything is perfect as always. I'll probably head down to hte hospital again later on today. I'm just in a huge relief and thank God my prayers were answered. It just goes to show that some things are just not in your power, and you really need to have your faith. I dont' want to make this into a religous topic so I'm going to stop it there because I don't want to break any rf.net rules.

Thank you BW I need all the prayers I can get. My dad is a wonderful man who really helped me out. It's because of him and his support why I graduated from USC and got my masters at UCLA. He's the one who believed in me when nobody else did.

I admire his courage as well because my dad basically had to start all over again when the Islamic Revolution happened in Iran back in 1979. He was making great money as an engineer with a US education back in Sha's time. When the revolution happened he basically had to rebuild his empire from scratch. He always says, "The government of Iran took away all of my money, but they never could take away my education." That always stuck with me and that is what made me so serious about my education. Once again thank you very much for your support Black Widdow I greatly appreciate it. I'LL KEEP YOU GUYS UPDATED TOMORROW HE SHOULD BE COMMING HOME.

If I can be 1/2 of the father he is to my future kids, I should be nominated for father of the year. I'm also glad that I have a lovely girlfriend buth on the outside and on the inside to make things easier. She has just been great and really was there for me this whole time. As I'm getting older I understand now that it's not just all about looks. Looks are important but you need to have a heart as well.

I'm very happy for you. Especially with our fathers who through our lives seem like super heros, when they get older and health issues flare up it's very tough to see them go through it. I pray he bounces back as quick as possible.

Great to hear! Both my parents were diagnosed with cancer and they both made it through just fine. Hopefuly all remains well. Keep us posted.

Very very glad that everything went fine with him. Make sure he is checked all the time. My dad had prostate cancer about 20 years ago it was cured. 17 years later if came back and he died 2 years ago. Not trying to be negative, just make sure you stress to him to get bi-yearly check ups for it...

First of all I would like to thank everyone for thier kind words and prayers. My father is back home with me resting and doing well. He is looking forward to the trip I have planned for him on Oakland. The reason is because his alma mater Michigan State is playing against Cal. I told him today that I got the tickets and he was very excited. The tickets were only $50 and you sit in the blue zone.

Anyways Raider Ran thank you for sharing that story with me, and I am sorry to hear that you lost your dad to prostate cancer. I will take your advice and my dad is going to go to the hospital once every three months. I think four times a year is enough.
