Like one of my favorite rappers says "I expect to get respect f*ck record sales." Plenty underground rappers better than mainstream cats. The game is divided. I don't know what the hell these kids like these days or why these bums sell. But this topic is real tired imo. Some people are hard headed and set in their ways. All I know is rap used to be rhyming. Now you can say anything you want as long as it got a beat. Cut the beats out and let's hear these dudes spit raw. See who sells then...All the rappers I listen to are lyricists. No disrepect Poke but sayng Jada stinks is your opinion. Maybe our definitions of a good rapper differ.

The whole game is preference. Beats. Flows. Lyrics. Hook. Depends on your selling point. If you aint feelin a certain cat's beats, you wont feel his music the same. Same with lyrics or how the dude spits... if you aint feelin it you aint feelin it. A bad hook can really f**k up an entire song. But its all preference. I mean I might speak my mind out at times like f**k Wayne, but I aint hatin on homie. That's a lot of folks preference so to each his own. Everything is based on opinion in the rap game and peoples opinions change quick. Alot of peeps act up and say "that Rapper sucks. He cant flow." or "He aint got beats" but its all just a matter of opinion. Alot of people love Wayne, I aint tryin to take anything away from the artist or take away a fans credibility when I say I dont feel him...its just that simple...I dont feel him. Thats why they're "artists" not everybody understands what your tryin to create with your music. The ones that do, thats the fan base there. Fans tend to get offended when other people dont like the same thing. Thats what keeps things like this forum poppin.

Some listen for just the beats...they want that block to rock when they rollin down the street, lyrics are secondary. I think thats the thing with this new generation thats what they want. They dont wanna get into no politics or give a damn about makin the world a better place. The rappers wanna make money and the fans wanna think they makin money. They want that beat thatll make the girls ass shake in the club. They want that ringtone of that #1 song on the radio...so they can be "cool". You also got the other side who prefer "dope lyrics" rather than a slappin ass beat...the "hip-hop fans" you know they been around awhile. Its all about freestyles and mixtapes and all that...most artists are considered unsuccessful if they dont sell, but usually they arent goin for sales and if they make a "radio" single theyre a sellout. Kanye about the closest thing to a crossover, he gets hip-hop respect plus he's a household name.

Anyway I didnt mean to rant what I was tryin to get at is this... if I like the beat, am feelin the lyrics/delivery, and it comes together as a good track...thats what I look for. If one or more is missing I just dont have the urge to listen to it.
Carter 3 (for example) and IMO:
1. Beats/Production: Solid
2. Lyrics/Delivery: Cant get with it. Sorry. Never have maybe never will. (Wobble-dee-drah-drop it like its hot)
3. Overall good tracks: Im half and half on this.

But Ill still give Wayne respect...hes hot right now. Not to me but to many people he is...and thats cool with me. People can like what they want, I tend to go against the grain myself. But thats how I rate my rap music. Preference. "Greatest rapper alive" is just tough to swallow but people love him like we love the Raiders. So I understand where they comin from in his defense.

Kiss My Ass (Jadakiss album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Kiss My Ass" should drop within a couple months. I'm still bumping kiss the game goodbye and kiss of death plus 2 of his mixtapes. It never gets tired imo

Great post man, again. Thats an opinion right there.

Just jumpin on the weezy and hating on him for no reason is what I hate.

Too be honest with you though, I love his lyrics. And like you said, it's just the style you like.

To me, personally, on a lyrical level, I think Wayne and Mac Dre are/were very much alike. Whitty, quick one liners that either make you laugh or say damn tahts some good word play.

I love his whitty ****. And when he needs to come correct, he can. Like in Hollywood Divorce and Luxury Tax like poke posted.

Love the lines like:
"even deaf women say hi to me, she tell a blind bitch, and she say she gotta see"

or

"And I might do the spurs sittin on them tim duncan
And in the Lambourgini I do donuts like dunkin
Every bad bitch with a pussy wanna f**k em'
But I just feed em' girls and watch em' f**k each other
My neck was 100 and my wrist was another
And make her pussy wet I leave that bitch with a puddle
On my beats I'm a dog I should rap wit a muzzle
Peyton manning flow I just go no huddle
Baby girl gettin straight dick no cuddle
You know I'm out this world
I just brought a space shuttle
I'ma put some d's on that bitch"

Love that **** man. Great word play, and nice. A peyton manning no huddle line, a tim duncan on spurs line, and leaving her pussy drippin wet as a puddle, just the way i like it.

And if you wana talk some serious lyrics..
Blind eyes can look at me and see the truth
Wonder if Stevie do?
But I'ma Leave it to
God, not Beaver
Neither
You
Cause I'ma murder, Y? Kill O and even U?
Man, I got Summer hating on me cause I'm hotter than the sun
Got Spring hating on me cause I ain't never sprung
Win-ter hating on me cause I'm colder than ya'll
And I would never, I would never, I would never Fall
I'm being hated by the seasons
So f**k ya'll who hating for no reason!

Dude throws in the seasons on their, giving a reason for why each part of the year hates on him, plays with the word you and the letters Y, O, and U. That **** takes talent IMO. He puts out 200 + songs in the past 2 years and still comes up with lyrics like this.

Or:
"Hard hat, no
But I got the tool on
And you should be the PAPER if ever the tools DRAWN"

But hey, thats just me. ANd like you said, and like i always say, what make you nod your head is all preference. From movies, to sports, to music, its all personal preference. It is what it is. All im trying to say is, for me lyrics aren't secondary. I got into Wayne because of his lyrcs, especially on his mixtapes. And thats what alot of the pre lollipop fans will say about Weezy. His lyrics are hott... Thats why Da drought 3 and dedication 2 became 2 of the hottest mixtapes to ever hit the internet/music industry. They were recycled beats so it wasn't anything new, it was his lyrics.

See I agree with Silvernblack. Im more into the way these dudes spit rhymes that make you think as well as the beats. Im sick and tired of hearing dudes talk about how much crack they sold and how they are gonna shoot up somebody's Grandma Betty.

Nobody is creative no more. Thats why I can't listen to too many bay area rappers. Everything is Thizz this. Hyphy this. I smoke weed and sale dope. Come on man. You can't make a album rapping about the same sh*t and expect a fan base not to get bored. Come on.

Wayne is to me like a poet. Like a Andre 3000, Common, Talib, Jay-Z. IMO by the way he puts his words together in a very creative way. I mean serious people listen to

Dr. Carter.

Listen to Let The Beat Build where he raps to the beat building. This is incredible chemistry between he and Kanye West.

Listen to the emotion he brings in Gossip

Im sorry Wayne is legit. I mean tell me what other rapper right now is next to carry on the torch of rap music if not him? Don't give me baloney rappers like something called Immortal Technique. Tell me who is the future of rap if not Lil Wayne. Who? Out of all the people yall name I bet Wayne is the youngest and rap can hang or outshine damn near any rapper in the rap game right now. Must I continue to post examples? No matter what people think about him, its pretty damn incredible that a rapper in todays time even the leak of his album can still manage to sell 2 million albums in 2 weeks. With all the download and file sharing blah blah blah. Thats legit.

And if its about respect. Hell Wayne got repsect from damn near all his peers in the rap game thats why they call him for features. Hell Jay-Z pretty much passed him the torch in Mr. Carter.

Im not saying he's the best rapper alive. But he is nice on the mic and I ride with him. The Carter 3 is as close to a classic album since T.I.'s Urban Legend.

Nice post poke.

I mean we can't hate on people for having differences of opinion. But to say wayne's lyrics are secondary to me is a joke. And I'm sorry if thats too strong of an opinion. not talking about you SOFA KING OG I know you were just talking about rappers in general.

It's not a coincidence that Wayne blew up BIG TIME in the past 2 years. It wasn't because of the Carter I, or the Carter III. It was his mixtapes. All recycled beats... So it wasn't the beats that caught hte industry/fans attentions. It was his LYRICS.

Wayne is known to be the hardest worker in the game right now. His peers say he doesnt party or vacation. He tours more than 8 out of 12 months of the year, and has a studio in his bus. He supposedly only sleeps 4 hours a night. Writing, making songs, or doing shows for over 8 hours a day.

He breathes music. Not just rap. Kid knows his **** from betty wright, to prince, to all the gangster rappers. At the age of 13 he called birdman every day and left free style voicemails until one day Birdman picked up and told him to quit calling him.... But he kept calling, with more rhymes. At the age of 13.....

I'm not going to say hes the best alive either. But dude worked for his. Probably harder than any other in the Biz right now. And that's why right now, and for the past few years, he's been on top in terms of RESPECT and sales in the music industry. Bar none IMO.

But the question remains as everyone's said, how long can he keep it up?

Don't forget, he's the same age as when Jay Z put out reasonable doubt. And he's already dropped two of the hottest mixtapes to hit the mixtape industry, and garnered the respect of everyone in the music industry. His doin his thing. He's on every damn big named CD that has came out in the past few years. From Kanye's, to Jay Z's, to Rick Ross, Bun B etc.

As for other rappers this could essentially be a great year for rap. We got Rick Ross who came correct. Game's coming out with hopefully a banger. T.I with the paper trail. And hopefully Outkast.

**** will be interesting to say the least.

I thought Scarface's last album was a classic but it got no airplay here in the ATL. , Scarface to me is the TRUE king of the South. Not TI. JMHO.

I have Wayne's album too and it's a one of the best I've heard in a minute.

People down here are going crazy over this cat Plies. Have yall heard him out on the West Coast?

Definitely heard of him. i just downloaded his older CD. Haven't had time to listen to the whole thing. He's on MTV and alot of collaborative songs so he's definitely heard of. Probably not as much as in the south though.

I have scarface's latest album. I don't know if its just the area I'm from but I haven't heard anyone really talk about scarface in a while.

Do you like T.I at all? or you just saying Scarface is better. Jw.
