Lil Wayne CANT freestyle, thats for sure. IF this is our new Biggie and Pac, its the end of the world..
He makes clever conections using word play, but come on, dudes rhymes are diluted like drinks at a resort.
The production value of Carter 3 is incredible, strip that down, and you're listening to some pretty wack ass content. Minus Jay-z and T-pain, and that **** might as well be in the trash..
Sorry, man, I'm not feelin this bubble gum rap just like I want feeling most of the Cash Money **** when I was in high school except like 3 of Juvies tracks...
But now, in the club is a differnt story. sheet you could throw on some 2LiveCrew and Id be freakin to that ****..

Real. Alot of bozos that are broke and can't sell more than 400 CDs try to keep it too hood. That ain't the name of the game. The name of the game is to get money. Period. If you want to be too hood and still sale weed and on the block risking ya neck..hey go for it. Me. I'd personally like to get $$ to help make my hood better.
If The Carter 3 ain't the best rap album out tell me what is. We had this discussion in the barbershop last week.

I honestly don't give a damn how much money these dudes make. That doesn't make them good in my book. Lyrics don't mean anything to half of these rappers and their fans. All you need is a hot beat and some air time and you take off lol. I don't listen to most mainstream cats because they're garbage. If that's what qualifies for "hot" then this world is upside down. Maybe the end is near like you always say Poke.

The thing is, he has the respect of alot of the rappers in the game right now also.
Jay Z calls him is "heir" in the Mr. Carter song on tha carter III and also called him the best rapper out a year ago in a BET interview.
Kanye west called him a living legend.
Young Buck, and Lloyd Banks both admitted to bumping Lil Wayne's Music more than any other "non affiliated" G unit member.
The Game himself said he would be priveleged to a "blood brothers" album with Wayne.
He's my favorite out right now. The thing you gotta understand is, like Poke said, he's got the white people buying. he's got the cross over crowd. The white, and the blacks. No racism, just real talk.
And of course, the ever so famous lollipop has girls creaming their pants after the first beat drops...
Rap these days ain't what it was 10 years ago. And I'm sure 90% of the people hating on Wayne are definitely those who come from the 90's generation of Rap....
|
That's nothing new. Public Enemy, N.W.A. Luke, 2 Pac and Biggie already paved that road.
Of course we are from that era. The late 1970's, 1980's and 1990's made rap what it is today.
Although the problem with rap today is, these new Artists are not really putting much thought into their work.
Raps roots are political. Rappers back in the day, brought their message from the ghetto into the suburbs. At one point in time, Rappers called their music, "The Black CNN". Rap had a true meaning at one time. It had skills. It had style.
If you're not sure where I'm coming from, then watch the movie "Brown Sugar".

Ok, here is what I'm going to do.
I'm going to give you 2 links.
One with Whodinis lyrics and One with Lil' Waynes lyrics.
Here is Whodini-Five minutes of Funk
http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Who...s-Of-Funk.html
Here is Lil' Waynes-Bring it back
http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Lil...g-It-Back.html
You be the judge. Download both songs, listen to them and listen to the rhyme and tell me who has/had more skill.

I agree with G. Rick Ross stays in the rotation in my Monte Carlo. Thrilla is a hot LP. But real talk. I gotta say this Carter 3 album shows Wayne's maturity as a lyricist. Listen to some of his lines. Im serious when I say "some" of his lines are on the level on Andre 3000.
But no matter what we think about Wayne. He got the respect of his peers. Pretty much every track he is featured on is a 'slapper'. Jay-Z himself pretty much passed the tourch to him on a very nice song in Mr. Carter.
Wayne will continue to make a lot of money in rap because he is to these kids what 2pac and Biggie were to us. And white people love him. You got white folks on your team you go $$$. Because you know must us black folks know a real good bootleg person. But if the album is hot we will spend that $$. And with Lil Wayne, T.I., Rick Ross, Outkast, etc the South Continues to own rap. Who we got in Cali? The Game? Man we on life support out here. Nobody cares about Nas' political raps no more. Dr. Dre been suppose to been dropping Detox for the last 12 years. And Eminem to busy having on again off again relations with Kim Mathers. The South is winning.
