Did anyone take Autocad in High school or college.
The engineering company I now work for WorleyParsons is requiring all new engineers to take an autocad class at Rio Hondo Community College. The thing is that my dad hooked me up with this job to honestly tell you guys the truth. After working 20 years with Parsons, he had to transfer to Worley Parsons a few months ago. Basically they laid off him along with over 1,000 engineers. His connections along with my USC connections played a huge role. My current boss and the guy I also happened to interview, got his engineering degree from USC.
Sorry if I am rambling on and on but I wanted to give you guys a bit of a background on my situation. My only worry is that I am comming from a business background. I don't like most of them because they look down at me that I studied business. They seem to think that engineering is the only worthy major. Basically these are the kids that you would never invite to a party in high school or college, and they probably have a very hard time getting laid. They are very smart but socially retarded. At least some of them are very cool and I made friends with a few fellow SC and UCLA alum. It seems like the jerks are the ones from the East Coast or Southern schools. I am even getting my masters in business, while some of these guys I work with have a BS and MS in engineering. I have never taken autocad in high school or college.
Is the class hard? I am ok in computers but I am not a wizzard. I know your basic applications like Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point. Can someone like me who has no engineering background succeed in an autocad class? I have a good work ethic but I am a little bit apprehensive about this course. I would appreciate any advice.
