Here we go again.... New draft ideas and why.
With Favre staying I think Moss is a goner (darn!)

With the trading of Moss we start sweating CJ BIGTIME!! Making him seem like a lock for the #1 pick. Also we talk to Houston about Carr/Jax about Leftwich OR we talk about how Walter is our guy in 07. All a smoke screen.

TB wants and more importantly needs CJ! When we convince the world he's our #1 pick TB trades us to move up. Which shouldn’t be hard because we have a rep for not taking QB’s and drafting the most athletic freaks in the draft. Worst case senario after the coin flip is they draft #4. At #4 We will still have a shot at Peterson or Russell. Thomas, Quinn, or Adams will go top 5 also. So TB takes CJ #1 we get #4, their 2nd rounder #36 and a 2008 #2... going of the trade chart this is about equal. We trade Moss and our 2nd rounder from TB #36 overall to GB for GB 1st round 16th overall. Again this goes off the trade chart and it means Moss is about the equal to 460 points which is equal to a second round pick #44 overall. Some would agree he's worth a 2nd some would not...Farve would and he's all that matters in this case cuz he runs GB. Porter stays and gets on board with Kiffen and staff. He will be forgiven. So here is how our draft plays out now:
Round 1 #4- J. Russell QB LSU. We sit at #4 and hope Russell falls to us, with our fall back of Peterson or Quinn as options 2 and 3 if Russell comes off the board. I don't really see Det or Cle taking a QB and if they do I think they opt for the more "polished" Quinn. We get our franchise QB that we have passed over the last few years and the media still says we are stupid cuz we took Russell over Quinn....bastards!!

He is the 1st QB off the board
Round 1 #16- In this order due to availability- M. Lynch RB Cal/ D. Jarrett WR USC/ T. Ginn WR OSU. One of the three will be there it just depends on who is on the board. If Lynch is there he's our guy, If not we select one of the 2 WR's listed to fill the void (if you can call it that) left by Moss. Lynch will be a monster in the NFL and him and Jordan could be a nasty 1 two punch next year. Jarrett would start across from Porter and Curry would be in the slot. Jarrett is a big guy and he will be a difference maker in the redzone. Ginn will work out of the slot and Curry would get the nod until Ginn proves he's better. Ginn we be our return man (sorry Carr fans) he is a beast returning the ball!! In this draft we get Ginn because Jarrett goes to Minn at #7 and I see Lynch going 8-12 maybe to Houston...you know the ones that didn't draft Reggie or at the latest to the NYG cuz Tiki retired. The goal here was to get Lynch but it didn't work out. He is the 3rd WR off the board
Round 2 #1- M. Bush RB Louisville. If he didn't break his leg at the beginning of the year he would be mid first round talent at the latest. I feel a lot better taking a guy who broke his leg than a guy who tore ligaments...thats just me. He's a big guy that doesn't go down easy and will be a bruiser and a chain mover. He will share the load with Jordan and by the middle of the season he will get the bulk of the carries. He is the 3rd RB off the board
Round 3 #1- G. Olsen TE Miami (The U). Some say he's the best TE on the board. He has also been said to be better and more talented than other Miami TE's i.e. Shockey. Great hands and he can block. He will be a go to guy on 3rd down and a huge target for Russell. HE will be the 3rd TE off the board.
Round 3 # 33ish- K. Brown DT Miami (The U...again). This might be a bit of a reach but I trust Ryan. If he sees something in this kid then lets get him. The only reason I have him going here is because of the reports we have been paying him a bit of attention. He's a big guy a could help stuff the run with Sapp and Co. His biggest knock is that he disappears at times but I hopefully with good coaching and fighting with Sands (hopefully he's back!!!) Hawthorne, and Kelly for playing time he'll step up and be solid.
* Day 1- Best QB, 3rd best WR & RB, 2nd best TE (debatable) and a big DT not bad.
Day 2-
Round 4 #1- J. Moore DE Nebraska. Huge sleeper. Dude is 6'5" 275 and runs a 4.7!!!! Had a good senior bowl but will still get over shadoweded by the other big name DE and DT's in the draft. Including his teammate at Nebraska Adam Carriker. He hasn't made one top 10 DE list I have seen. He will compete with Huntley for playing time and platoon between RE and LE to spell Burgess. He can play on passing or rushing downs. Could be a steal.
Round 5 #1- L. McClain FB Alabama. The second coming of Neal, Ritchie....you know a blocking FB with a mean streak. He's a Raider type FB. He's 6'1" about 260 and is a road grader. He will knock LB's on their asses. He can also catch out of the backfield and when he does get a hand off he gets positive yardage. He will be a good one for a long time. All we need is the bloody forehead!!!! :helmet:
Round 5 #30ish (Gabriel trade)- S. Piscitelli S Oregon St. Big 6'3" 225 and fast 4.3 40. Underrated at safety but has all the tools, he can tackle, play near the LOS, catch, and is always around the ball. In a perfect world he would come in to play SS and move Huff to FS but more than likely he will be a ST guy for a year and maybe platoon with Stu and spell Huff on occasion. He will be a stud on ST like Coop. Has the speed to play corner and has in spots but he will be a S at the NFL level.
Round 6 #1- D. Sartz OLB USC. Big and fast 6’5” 240. Really just a ST player maybe some insurance due to Bing’s injury and Williams history. Hopefully Bing will turn out to be what we have in howard on the other side of Morrison. Sartz has the speed to cover and in the AFC west he can cover TE’s which free’s up the Safetys to make plays which makes him a solid pick. Could have more value than expected.
Round 7 #1- R. Turner OG New Mexico- Big guard with a nasty streak…hey it’s the 7th round!!
Round 7 #17ish (Hamilton trade)- B. Daniels OG Colorado. Big and durable…and…hey it’s the 7th round why not??
Couple side notes...
I didn't address the O-line until the 7th and there are a few reasons why. I KNOW WE NEED HELP THERE. I don't want to get OL in the draft or at least not in the 1st day. We have young guys on the line and some FA vets would help more at this point than adding a bunch of new draftees to the list. I also am really looking forward to the new blocking scheme that will be in place under Kiffin. His scheme works and it doesn't call for one on one blocking. It works look at Denver and USC...nuff said. There are 1 or 2 good FA OL that could be brought in and make a huge difference. Who we look at in FA depends on if we move Gallery to RT and if we are going with Grove at C. With my draft here would be our starting line up:
QB:Russell/Walter
RB:Jordan/Bush
FB:McClain/Crockett
WR1:Porter
WR2:Curry/Ginn
TE:Olsen/Anderson/Madsen
LT:Gallery/FA
LG:Boothe
C:Morris/Grove
RG:McQ/FA
RT:FA/Gallery/McQ
DE:Burgess
DE:Huntley/Moore
DT:Sapp/Hawthorne
DT:Sands(I hope)Brown/Kelly
OLB:Bing/Williams/Sartz
OLB:Howard
ILB:Morrison
CB:Aso
CB:Fab/Routt
FS:Stu/Cooper
SS:Huff/Piscitelli
K:Jano
P:Lechler
And....strike up the band!!!!
