I think everyone wants all things now. We have had a bad season every year since our superbowl loss to chucky and his wanna be Raiders.
The belief and/or hope is that we get a running back who can take the heat off of whoever our QB will be. The draft could be a good place to get a new running back, with AP and Lynch being at the top of many a fan's wish lists. A good running back will improve the RAIDER running game that can take our defense off of the field. This will make a potent defense even better. Our d-line and pass rush will be that much better with more time to rest on the side line before going out to chase a Jay Cutler or Tomlinson. With the first pick in the draft, along with some possible compensatory picks and trades, the RAIDERS could end up with both a QB and a RB. This would give the RAIDERS two things they need, a QB of the future, as well as an improved running game. There is the possibility that we get both, but there is also the possibility that we get neither, and that the powers that be give us both from free agency or trades, and not the draft. It seems like many people here like Russell and hate the ND QB, or the other way around. I think either one would do well in Silver and Black, given a decent line and a team with a good attitude. I personally would like us to get both a QB and a RB in the draft, to trade off the cancer that is Moss, and to start Porter and Curry, with Gabriel being receiver #3. I would want us to steal some lineman from another team via FA and trade, which would instantly shore up our pass protection, and give Walter a chance to perform. Oh well, we can all hope. |

thats what i ben saying im a huge fan of peterson and all ways be but qb should be the first priority(sp) then offense line.... next years rb class is damn good.. like you said McFadden ,Slaton(my fav)Hart(also my fav)Raymell Rice,James Davis, tons and tons of talent..
also you can get a lil help at rb in this years draft by getting Brandon Jackson from NEB,Dwayne Wright from Fres ST. Gary Russell Minn,Kolby Smith, Loui |

This is a good post. If you've seen in the main forum, the Raiders brought in Dewayne Wright for an interview. The thought may have crossed their minds. They maybe are thinking along the same lines.

McFadden is going Top 5, Rice is going Top 10, Slaton is undersized and really needs to bulk up. It's stupid to think ahead about the 08 draft. You never know what happens. We might get a sleeper at RB, Jordan or Fargas might pan out or one of those guys listed ahead my suffer a career ending injury. You don't know what's going to happen so there's no use planning that far ahead unless your playing Madden.

This is a great idea, also a very smart one. But the people who want a Running back this year are those who are on the AP and Marshawn bandwagon. I myself would really like Marshawn. If you mean letting the QB develop along with the offense and then see what kind of runningback will fit ion it then I think we should wait. But if we don't draft a QB then I'm all for trading down and picking up Marshawn along with a reciever or defensive tackle in the first round.

I just stated a reason why.

that's another thing. everybody assumed the niners would get the first pick last year and this year after they chose alex smith.... didnt happen either and they probably have the worst team on paper...

hey they almost made the playoffs, atleast thats something. But yea, we arent guaranteed a high pick next year. And those running backs coming out in the 08' draft will definetly be gone early. With this in mind, I guess we have to draft whomever now and not think ahead of next years draft.

I think we should do the exact opposite. Notice how guys like Phillip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger performed better with great running backs. I'd rather get a great HB first and if Walter doesn't pan out we'll be able to get a QB next season. The QB class is a bit deeper next season, after Russell and Quinn it's a HUGE dropoff so just like how RBs will come a dime a dozen next season, QBs will be similar. I'd like Peterson this year, and Brohm or Brennan next year.

He gets burnt more than anyone else, and he all of a sudden is this great Pro Bowl cover corner. I never saw that in DeAngelo Hall. He would gamble and do everything unsound on the corner." - Warren Sapp on DeAngelo Fall |
