Was this forum like this last year?

I wasn't around last year during bowl season, so I have a question for the people that were around during the bowl season last year.

Was this forum exactly like this last year? You know, everyone basing their opinions of a player on one game. And if it was like this last year, eventually will it die down and go back to people basing their opinions off of the careers these players had, not just 1 game?

Here are some of the funniest things I have seen so far:
-Brady Quinn went from a first round draft pick to a bust in one day.
-JaMarcus Russell went from a potential top 10 pick to a "can't miss" prospect by some posters, meaning their is no way this guy could fail in the NFL at all... after a bowl game vs. a N.D. defense that I could throw two touchdowns on.
-Adrian Peterson is no better than his back-up after his first game in around 11 weeks coming off of an injury (his last game before the Fiesta bowl was October 14th). In that game: 86 total yards (averaged 4 ypc) and 2 TD's after not playing football in 11 weeks.

Here is my prediction for after the National Championship game: Since I believe OSU will beat Florida, we will then have many threads about how Troy Smith should be our #1 draft pick, no matter where he is projected to go (right now: he is projected to be a late first, but this will not stop people from saying he should be the #1 pick).

(if you are wondering my opinion, I still think we should take Peterson).

No last year we were all hung up on getting Wisenhunt as our new HC to worry too much about the bowl games.

I believe we trade down to Cleveland, let them take Quinn. We get an extra pick from them....then we pick LYNCH....then the next best, QB left on the board, a TE, a DT and O-LINE.....

I think your right. What amazes me is how fans only watch national televised games, see a guy once or twice and then they judge the player on that;

I watch college a ton! More than the pro's to be honest because I like to bet on college games.

Peterson is a flat out stud. They have a terrible QB so most teams have one or two guys following him at all times.

Quinn's QB rating is 40 points less against top 20 teams and cant handle a rush.

If people would have watched the LSU Auburn and LSU/Florida game they wouldnt' be so hot on Russell. His floaters wont' work in the NFL or against a good team, and he wont' have 5-6 sec. to pass every play either.

Yeah , it pretty much was. It was all about Leinart and Young last year. Just like Quinn and Russell this year.

There were some talks on draftees from bowl games. However, I agree w/ Bram, most of the talk was who was going to be the next HC.And those talks leaned towatds Wisenhunt

My guess is it's more people being vocal. The anti-Brady crowd is now more vocal, the pro-Brady camp isn't being as vocal. That's the nature of playing good or bad.

That's because last night was probably the 1st time most of these people have seen him. I don't think you went far enough. I think to many he went from "Not even in Rnd 5" to "Can't miss".

My opinion of him is I still don't think he's a 1st Rnd pick btw.

I think he needed to rush for 200+ yards and look unstoppable to be worthy of a #1 overall pick btw. I know he missed a lot of time. That's why I'm not high on him. He missed a ton of carries last year as well.
I actually thought he played well against Boise St, but I don't think he's that much better then Lynch or Bush. And at the NFL level I think running game success if more on the oline and scheme and playcalling then a single stud back anyways. So I wouldn't take him #1 overall unless I felt he was god in cleats.

It hasn't stopped some people already. If he was 3 inches taller he'd be the #1 pick IMO.

And I'm obviously a huge proponent of Calvin Johnson. I don't care about need when we have the #1 pick. Here's a chance to get a pro-bowl playmaker for the next 12 years. Jordan gives us time to develop another running back either with a Rnd 2 pick or next year's draft.

Sadly, I'd like my plan much better if we had drafted Leinart last year. Still I think our front office sucks (they scout defensive prospects well at least), but they'll pass on the QB and give Walter another chance in a real scheme with an improved line (personally, I can't stand Walter, but that's me).

So that's just my thought on your thoughts

They passed on QBs last year and gave Walter a chance because he hasn't had a shot yet. He only played pre-season which means almost nothing. Thye didn't know what they had until they put him into a regualr season game and battle tested him, now they know he's a younger version of Collins. Time to move on.

I also watch college a ton, and I have to say that is true that AD is a great rb and play a "no great" bowl comming from an injury doesnt matter for me.
About Quinn I disagree with u because first he dont have 40 points less aginst the top 20 teams, if u have watched last year and this year games against USC u cant tell me that Quinn loose this games or that he play bad, samething in the last year bowl against OS, every QB in college or in pro have problems against good D, see the problems that Manning have against the pats D in the last years.
And about JR I have too say that he is a good QB but have too many problems with fumbles, and also have a tendency to put a lot of air in his throws, and also isnt the most acurate QB, I watch the both games u mention and he made a lot of stupid decitions under presure, a lot more than Quinn, Quinn play a lot better when have pressure.
