Chad Greenway

I am very high on this guy.

6"4, 245lbs, 4.55 40yard dash.

Strengths: Perfect size at 6'4" 245 lbs. Impressive speed for his frame being clocked under 4.6...Has very quick reactions and closes well on the ball carrier. Rarely misses a tackle, wraps up in the open field, yet makes the momentum changing huge hit from time to time. Has excellent football instincts, a nose for the football and has been very productive in college (amassed over 110 tackles both his junior and senior years, despite losing his interior DL at Iowa in his senior year leaving him exposed to interior offensive linemen). Good blitzer with incredible burst Has very soft hands for an LB and had 3 INTs (one returned for a TD) in 2004. Is very capable in coverage, good enough to be able to cover TEs by himself with his athletiscism, size and awareness. Hard worker, team leader and an extra coach on the field.

Weaknesses: Deep class at LB, has been overshadowed by another outstanding OLB prospect in OSU's AJ Hawk. He is sometimes overaggressive and is undisciplined at times. Can pack more weight onto his frame and needs work refining his block-shedding techniques.

http://hawkeyesports.collegesports.c...ay_chad00.html

I consider him on the same level as AJ. So if the latter is gone by the time we pick i'd love to see Greenway in S&B, even if some believe it could be a reach. If we could trade down and get him then we should but he'll be gone by #12 and quite frankly i couldn't give two ****s if it was seen as a reach, as OLB is our biggest need and Greenway is a freakin stud.

ehhhh
he should be a 2nd rounder! he isnt that good IMO.. didnt have a great season this year, and its STILL tough to decide whos the best LB on that team fact is that Hodge is the captain of that LB core and hes been stellar for the past 2 seasons, and Greenway has been hot and cold.

oh I beg to differ!

like I said, Greenway has been hot and cold all season.. but Demeco's senior season was great, stellar against the run, stellar blitzer, and good enough in coverage to be considered a Top 15 pick.

DeMeco Ryans going to be a stud. A super playmaker. I saw Greenway play twice and he was a really good all around player. He covered RB's a lot better than any other LB I saw. Most big ten LB's are run oriented and Greenway can really cover. Greenway will be a late first rounder though.

P.S don't go by the college sites; they rarely say anything negative. Also, I hate these mock draft guys who have never even seen some of the players play, yet they're giving their opinion on them. If I didn't see them play, I can't say much about them and it's hard to believe what people say. Ryan Leaf and about 20 other first round QB's, Mike Mandrich, etc... there's been a million misses.

No way.

He has not been hot and cold. He has been extremely productive THROUGHOUT the last two years.

The only thing i do agree with you on is the fact Hodge is a good player. Iowa have a Vilma/DJ type combo coming out this year that i feel will both be very successful in the NFL. However, the Raiders need a DJ Williams more than they need a Jon Vilma at this stage because we already have options at ILB...

DeMeco Ryans lacks the physical attributes required IMO. It's one thing being smarter and more prepared than the competition in college, but it's a totally different story in the NFL. His size/speed and lack of strength will limit him taking on NFL OL's and chasing down NFL RB's on running plays and TE's in coverage. He is a playmaker and a natural born football player, but i see more in Greenway.

well I cant disagree with you on the physical attributes totally, although if you watch Ryans play he is not that slow! his speed is ready for the NFL, his strength will come in question at the pro level but look at guys like Witherspoon, Polley, Bullucks they got the same size as Ryans and there fine! he has no troubles shedding blocks in college, I dont see why its questioned that he will have trouble in the pros!

Greenway has been hot and cold, sorry been watchin them for 2 years now and its not AJ Hawk thats shadowing over Greenway, its his teammate Abdul Hodge

Hodge is faster, quicker, a better blitzer, and the best tackler on that LB core and hes always the talk of the game when Iowa plays and rightfully-so... the guy is allll over the field and hes an intimidator, ive seen him take guys down at the LOS time after time and deliver some nasty hits too... Greenway seems to fade away most of the time.

Have you been paying attention to senior bowl at all??? Greenway has been one of the top 3 or 4 players there, hodge and ryans both have stuggled in agility/coverage drills, greenway has excelled in all aspects, on top of that multiple people including mel kiper jr. have mentioned how he is super smart and a real leader on the field, in many ways (one example is that he was the first to break up the fight that happened on wed or thurs i forget what day)
Im not saying that he's a top five pick, but second rounder, come on, have you even watched him play at all or are you just going off of what you've read about him on some mock draft site?

The problem is our draft position. He's not worthy of a top ten pick so we can't take him there. However he will be a first round pick so we won't have a chance at him in the second. His teammate Mr. Hodge on the other hand should be there when we select in the second. If we came out of the first two rounds with Mario and Hodge, it would be instant improvement to our front seven.
