Could he be the next Stabler?

A lot of his attributes are similar to the same attributes Stabler brought to the Raiders. . .average to above average arm. . .great accuracy. . .little ****y. . .great intangibles, including leadership in the huddle. . .calm under pressure. . .loves to have fun.

Interestingly, it appears that this QB's stock has been downgraded a little, after the Superman like showing by Young in the BCS Championship Game. Could the Raiders move up a couple of spots to get him? Should they? Would he possibly drop to the Raiders in the sixth or seventh spot? God knows that the Raiders know all about this USC player.

That's what everybody you talk to loves about Leinart, his leadership. Not that Palmer isn't a leader and won't win championships, it's just that it's so evident with Leinart. The way, during timeouts in the national title game, he would bob to the band's music or pretend to play the drums on teammates' helmets in the huddle. He's so cool, so relaxed, always having fun. And considering all of the pressure he's been under as The Guy for USC for the last three years and for him to have lost just two games, you have to love that about him. His arm is average to above-average, he's accurate, and he moves OK for a big fella, but those intangibles are off the charts.

Leinart isn't as good as Palmer.

I like Leinart. He's much better that Vince Young that's for damn sure! But even if they could, would the Raiders draft him with Walter already on the roster? I agree he has great leadership skills and unfortunately I've never seen Walter play so I can't say that it would be stupid to go after him. But I believe he will be an excellent qb in the NFL some day soon.

i have my doubts about lienarts leadership skills, its easy to be the leader when your winning but true leadership is shown when one is up against adversity and the only time i've ever seen lienart lose he acted like a little biatch, young on the other hand has a humble back ground having helped raise is younger sisters and over came some adversities at UT as there starting qb last year, young seems to have a better head on his shoulders and has proven to me that he is a capable leading. like it or not there are some personality similarities between ryan leaf and matt lienart.

I totally disagree with you on EVERYTHING you said. Leinart has shown amazing leadership skills thoughout his entire career, you cant possibly base Leinarts leadership skills on ONE game, a game that USC should have won... any player would have been pissed after losing that. You want to talk about a little "biatch" talk about Vince Young before the Heisman presentation, just like Mack Brown the year before when he lobbyed to be in a BCS game. Vinyce Young lobbyed for votes and used some pretty said some pretty stupid things while doing it. These things were said while he was composed, not after a loss. Young in my opinion def doesnt seem to have a better head on his shoulders, and worst of all he has a lot of similarites of Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite. Vince Young would be a horrible pick for the Raiders... or most likely for any team....

I heard Mel Kiper comparing Leinart to Snake the other day and it did make me think a little. They are similar in arm strength, touch and accuracy. They also both have a little of that swagger, toughness an magic. That 4th and 12 audible against Notre Dame, with the game on the line and ice in his veins, was very reminiscent of the Snake.
