Wink Our 2005 Draft Picks.......

How many of us were throwing things and cussing when with our 1st pick we took Fabian Washington. And then our 2nd pick Stanford Routt! I remember many on the forums calling for Linebackers Darryl Blackstock and Channing Crowder when we took Kirk Morrison. Then we still had enough money in the bank to take Andrew Walter. Not to mention people saying we should have picked up Travis Henry instead of Lamont Jordan. Hopefully Anttaj Hawthorne Pete McMahon and Ryan Riddle will also come along. Don't all those picks force people to realize that Al Davis is still "Commited to Excellence!"

Instead of mentioning Mcmahon, because the guy was cut, what about undrafted Free Agent Chris Carr. When & If Ryan Riddle, and Hawthorne compete, depending on how they do, this could be the best class in a very long time. Its to bad about Pete, but hey maybe next time. Our Rookie class is very impressive.

Good job scouts & Al Davis, you boys still got it!!!!

I was Praying we'd Take Crowder many had him as a 1st RD talent and when he dropped to the 3rd i thought for sure we'd grab him. Morrison is playing really good tho so its hard to complain. The Routt Pick had me I hadn't even heard of him especillay for a high 2nd rd pick.

I would of loved Odell Thurman
but im fine with Stanford Routt, Kirk was a great pick-up if not Odell I would of taken Josh Bullocks.

Pre Draft I'd seen Fabian & Nebraska on T.V. and I figured he'd be worse than BLOWTIME was. He looked too little & scared to hit and he only got tackles if someone tripped over him. When we picked him my wife sent me outside so I didn't break stuff in the house. With Routt's pick I went outside because I was sure I was going to smash something. Andrew, Morrison, Riddle and Hawthorne restored me to normal breathing patterns and cut my heart rate. I must say I've been very pleased with Fabian & Routts play and I hope they prove once and for all that I couldn't scout a cat fight.

It's still possible that we'll be cussing and swearing at Fabian - c'mon guys he's only started 1 game!!! Let's wait and see how he does when he faces off against good WRs

I think the best draft we have had in a while was the 2004 draft easily. Robert Gallery, Jake Grove--These are two guys that will be on the team for 8-10 years at least. The corners from this year this is still a lot of ??? marks out on them yet. I don't get why people are so big on Andrew Walter right now. He hasn't taken a snap and will not for a long while if ever. I see him like Tui unless something drastic happens a backup for a long long time. Kirk this year was a great pickup. The jury is still out on Stuart Schweigert but I think he is better than Gibson ;)

I'll admit I wasn't happy with Fabian Washington because I though he would be P-Burnt part 2 but so far he's been good.

I dont know how these rookies will pan out but I do know that this is season is one that has more rookies getting significant time than in a while. With Washington, Routt,Morrison, and Carr all seeing plenty of action. i hope they all continue to improve adn help us for a long time. Carr has been primarily ST but he has gottten some DB action.

Yes, Carr definitely made up for any draft blunder. I guess you could look at it like we got two 2nd round picks, Routt and Carr for giving up one Doug Jolley. I'll take that.

????

Stanford Routt? wow if u guys are happy with him over odell who is probably going to be the ROY, then thats pathetic. the only thing ive seen routt do this year is get flagged for PI. i broke a window when this guy was drafted and im still pissed over it. and i am pleased with kirk obviously and fabian, but until fabian covers an all pro receiver, dont make him out to be an all pro cb.
