Jimmy Williams

i say we draft this guy,he is a shut out DB,and the best thing about him is that he can play both safety and cornerback, last time i checked derrick gibson our safety and charles woodson our cornerback are injured so he would make alot of sense,he is good against the run,and rarely commits penalties, the only thing bad about him is that he isnt really the fastest cornerback in the draft,he runs a 4.50 and we all know that al davis loves speed

no he is TOO slow. this years CB's are the worst in recent memory for me..

also.. he doesn't seem natural.. though he would make a decent safety if he was trained properly

He is a converted safety who is 6'3" 210lbs and definitely has the speed to play cb. The problem is first of all that he will be a top 10 draft pick unless an injury occurs, second, we spent our first two picks on cb's last year, we need to give washington asomuga and routt the opportunity to prove they've got what it takes.
On top of that we have drafted cb's in the first round 3 of the last 4 years with asomuga, buchannon, and washington. I think we need to look elsewhere this coming year, most notably DE and OLB, the good thing is that this coming draft will have some great DE and OLB prospects. I think that we need to get faster at those positions, if we could get more pressure on the pass rush it will make our cb's a lot better. It looks like Burgess has been a great pick up to improve our pass rush but we could really us another book end to compliment him, i like Mario Williams personally, word is he is super athletic, in the Julius Peppers mold.

I agree and im not impressed by any DBs or WRs in this draft to be honest, theres a lot of talent at Safety but a lot of injuries too
my favorite DB is Michael Huff and Laron Landry right now.

I agree. One of a safety's responsibilities is to make sure all of the DBs are in the right position before a play starts. For this reason,I'd rather sign a good veteran SS as a free agent(experience),and draft a stud OLB with our first pick.
We could then move Brayton back to DE,where he belongs. He'd get more sacks than in his past games as a DE due to alot of attention being put on Burgess,Sapp,and/or Kelly.
We need a 1st round stud at OLB on this team.

NO MORE CB'S IN THE 1ST ROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Period.

If we want to improve the pass defense then draft Kiwi or Mario Williams!!!!!!!!!

As much as I like Williams, I gotta pass. Yes, he can play CB but will most likely be a free safety at the next level. That doesn't fit an immediate need for Oakland so why do we need him?

speed isnt everything,he has great leaping ability and even if he isnt that fast he can still shut out corners and tight ends

Speed is everything to Al........just take a look at some of our recent CBs we've drafted. You have Fabian, Nnamdi, Routt, and P-buch. Besides the fact they were all day one selections, they all are blessed with speed and a lot of it!

no speed isn't everything..

but he wouldn't be able to cover even the moderately fast WR's out there.. a 4.5 isn't that great/

I would argue that instincts are actually, but ofcourse i accept you can't have one without the other in the NFL, maybe in college but not in the NFL.

When it comes to drafting prospects though you can't teach Speed- whereas football knowledge can be aqcuired over time, hence so many athletes being drafted, despite the fact they're not true football players...
