Like others have said Moore would be a solid pick at #3. I'm not a big fan of going too far down the consensus boards when you are picking top 5.
I have been saying pass rush DE all year, but these guys available all have their flaws from what I've seen that worry me.
You take Star, it could tremendously help our DE's. Like a Justin Smith for the Niners or other dominate DT's that command double teams. Aldon Smith went from almost breaking the record to being a non factor once Justin Smith went out.
On the contrary, Kelly and Seymour were doubled teamed this year and our DE's didnt get any push in their one on one match ups.
Whoever these scouts feel is the best ALL AROUND Dlineman, I hope they take and it's seeming more and more that is Star.

Actually there's 4 choices.....in order to how I rank them for us:
1.) Bjoern Werner
2.) Star Lotulelei
3.) Luke Joekel
4.) Damontre Moore
Pick one, any of the four work for me ;)
IF (and I'm saying if) Reggie thinks Lotulelei can be a Vince Wilfork or Haloti Ngata-type disruptor in the middle, then we HAVE to take him. Passrushers come out every year (although we do seem to have a bumper crop this time around). A truly dominating NT, on the other hand? Maybe twice a decade.
Picking Joeckel and moving Veldheer to the right seems like a completely reasonable move to me. Veldheer seems like more of a RT, we drafted him in the 4th round so he is valued like a RT and having two towers on either side of the QB is never a bad thing. Veldheer is coming along nicely and has been an awesome mid-round pick, but I am never against beefing up the OL.
With that said, I tend to agree with you. If we stay at 3, Star is the better choice. He has a few issues that I've seen on film (most glaring one: sometimes he fights the block the wrong direction and ends up having to go behind the center/guard) but these things are easily correctible with proper coaching. He is suited well for both the 3-4 and 4-3 so that will give us versatility to run the multiple fronts Tarver seems to want to develop. In my opinion, having a destructive defensive line is the second most important thing a team can have behind an elite QB and Star has the potential to be a huge contributor for this unit.
Ummm, not for me, yes he did have a great season, however the spinal stenosis issue that he has is a MAJOR red flag because at any time his neck can go right the f*ck out and that's some major missed time there if he would even be able to return. The USC doctors said he should honestly consider not playing football anymore for fear that neck can be seriously compromised at any time. I'll pass.....
I stick by my original 4 that I already listed.
Best dt or de on Reggies board works for me. If we go DE move Houston inside with Bryant, with Moore/Werner and shaunassy at the end spot. If Reggie goes Star no problem there either, personally I think Star could be gone before Raiders pick at 3.
Jarvis Jones reminds me too much of DMac: Do we take him and watch his career ended early because of injuries, or do we pass and watch him become the next Lawrence Taylor?
