I'd say 5th but thats just me
Do you take the gamble at that point
I'd say 5th but thats just me
I'd say not at all.
If he hits UDFA it doesn't hurt to bring him in, but I wouldn't waste a pick on him.
Hard for me to justify spending one of our very limited picks on a guy with character/effort/temper issues. He has to be all over the refs & Goodell's radar already.
UDFA or nothing on Burflict. Same for Cliff Harris from Oregon.
Great site. A lot of useful information here.

I say you dont pass on Vonteze Burfict, the issue here is not talent. The kid is a true football player, his stock has dropped dramatically due to his character but Reggie McKenzie has said that he will draft the best players available regardless of position. Just so happen that LB is a position we need depth. Not only that, we need someone to step on Rolando McClain's toes. His character is not an issue to me right now, Dennis Allen seems as a guy that gets in your face when you are doing wrong. We also have veteren leaders in the locker room to deal with that. If in the 4th, he is still available I say take him!!
I would draft him

Some of you guys need to stop watching YouTube high lights of the kid. Have you guys actually saw his games last year? He was constantly over playing and out of position. When he isn't making YouTube high light tackles, he is missing them. Takes bad angles and did not play well as he did in sophomore year.
He tries to get by just with his abilities and it's showing that it is not enough. His instincts as a football player isn't even that good.
Plus he comes out of shape to the most important job interview he has and blames everyone but himself when asked about his declining play.
On top of that he doesn't improve on his shape at his pro day and still doesn't take any blame..
He is not a good player and have this cult following because of his YouTube highlight. He might be a good player in the future but only with a team who can humble him and crush his ego. Raiders are not that. He will need some time to develop as a player and as a man. Just not with us.
I think most people who've been following college football know that Burfict isn't the prospect he once was. Early in the season he was right there as a top LB prospect.
Not anymore. Dude hasn't shown that he has the desire to be great on or off the field. He dogged it out there big time. And everytime he got an opportunity to redeem himself he's pointed blame at others.
AbsoFNlutely! Just the thought of Vontaze and Ro in the middle of the 34 is giving me hard on... In all seriousness, this would be an awesome pick up, just too much talent and skill to pass up on... But I would understand why Reggie would pass on Vontaze... I'm sure Reggie doesn't want any potential headaches... But "the juice is worth the squeeze' IMO.
I think he could fall out of the draft like Blount did (obviously different reasons). If he goes undrafted I would have no problem seeing him brought in to fight for a spot on the team. He's just a risky prospect and I'm not sure Reggie is in a position to make a gamble like that this year.
Any pick in the draft is far from a sure thing; too many variables to truly determine success. Good and "great" players have failed and "bad" players have become playmakers.
I might be singing a different tune if this were not DA & RM's first season. I would prefer that they have complete control of the locker room and be comfortable with their leaders in the locker room before they started taking on these kinds of immature players. So far RM has brought in guys that most people describe as solid, hard workers. I look for that trend to continue in this draft.
