I'll take your pick 6-10 scenario...

you know what though, i have a feeling like in previous years that guys that are expected to go high will slide for whatever reason. in this case i could see Crabtree slide down and maybe even be downgraded to the 2nd WR on the board if he doesn't run well at the combine....whereas a guy like Darrius Heyward-Bey could shoot up and overtake Crabtree because of how well he runs for his size, not to mention his potential.
same could be said for Meredith. everything is pure speculation at this point obviously....i just like this stuff since all the drama with our team was too much.

No doubt! I'm in the same boat.

I agree about the drama, but it also helps to fill a bye-week.

I'm liking your 6-10 scenario the best of the 3.
I would love to get Oher, but I am seriously unenthused about Harvin (he lacks physical size (5-11), he is a Florida Gator and he has more rushing yardage than receiving yardage - what is that all about?
I think Maclin is good, but I fear Heyward-Bey might be the workout warrior, Johnson would be a bad pick, we don't really need a Guard, we need a Tackle, and his monstrous size wouldn't work well in the ZBS anyway (IMO).

Here is my mock draft. This is on the basis we are picking from somewhere between 6-10. I liked the idea of trading next years first and second round picks for this years first:
1a. Andre Smith (OT) - Alabama
1b. Michael Crabtree (WR) - Texas Tech
2. Darius Butler (CB) - Connecticut (I'm predicting Asomugha will leave)
3. Max Unger (C/OT) - Oregon
4. Terrence Taylor (DT) - Michigan
6. Jasper Brinkley (ILB) - South Carolina
7. Quickest player available......lol
If this was our draft, I wouldn't care about next year, we would have a franchise LT and a stud WR. Jamarcus would then have all his tools. What an offense: Russell, McFadden, O'Neal, Smith, Gallery, Miller, Crabtree. I am dreaming about the prospect of it. Also Asomugha would be replaced. If this was our draft, I personally wouldn't be surprised to see us fight for a playoff berth.

OK, how about this. Aso is traded to Cleveland for their 1st and 2nd round picks (Routt takes his place, Huff moves to nickelback, Tyvon Branch starts at FS).
1A. LT Andre Smith or Michael Oher
1b. DE George Selvie
2a. WR Jeremy Maclin
2b. C Jonathan Luigs
3. FS Derek Pegues

Harvin is small, but Desean Jackson is showing that speed kills. my biggest question with Harvin is his ability to stay healthy, but when he's healthy, this guy is a baller.
10 rushes for 82 yds 1td, 13rec 186 yds and 1td against Ole Miss says he's a baller.

He is a good footballer, but I wouldn't compare him to Jackson, who is an excellent WR.
The biggest concern for me in respect to Harvin is that he has more rushing than receiving yards. We can already run the ball - that we know, we need a true WR, not a hybrid WR/RB. I think Harvin will do well in the NFL (in the right team) - I just don't think we are the right team. In some respects he is a bit like Reggie Bush - Bush is a RB who gets alot of receiving yards, Harvin is a WR who gets a lot of rushing yards.
I obviously listed a whole draft, but if we get:
1. A Franchise LT (One from Oher / Monroe / Black - possibly Smith or Meredith)
2. A true #1 WR (One from Crabtree or Maclin)
3. A stud Center (One from Luigs or Mack)
I will be over the moon. Mckenzie, Raji et al would be the icing on the cake, but this would leave our offense as:
LT: New Franchise LT (see above) / Henderson
LG: Gallery / McQuistan
C: Grove / (Luigs or Mack)
RG: Carlisle / Morris
RT: Harris / Green
TE: Miller / Troupe / Stewart
QB: Russell / Walter
RB: Fargas / MFadden / Bush
FB: Griffith / O'Neal
WR1: (Crabtree or Maclin) / Carter /Schilens
WR2: Walker / Curry / Higgins
This is an offense that can truly compete.

With a player like Crabtree, where he is drafted will depend upon what is seen on film as much as what he does at the combine.
Players like Maclin, Harvin and Heyward-Bey will always excite Al Davis because of their speed.
At the same time, whichever of you said Crabtree in the 2nd is joking, I hope. Why would he go to the draft if he was predicted to get just a 2nd round slot? Same with Maclin.
Crabtree and Maclin are draft eligible, but will not necessarily turn pro. In fact, I expect one or both to remain in college.

I don't think anybody said Crabtree will go in the 2nd, but that's where he should go IMO. I haven't seen anything from him that makes me think he's worth a 1st round pick. He might go in the first, but then again, how many WRs were projected to go in the 1st last year? At least 5 at one point or another.

Crabtree is a superstud and many think at least a top 10 pick. Maclan out of Missouri is also special and reminds me a lot of steve smith. I said crabtree earlier in the year and I stick with him; special talent.

Maybe he will go in the top 10. It's possible. Why do you think he's special though?

JaMarcus needs a #1 receiver but Im not yet sold on Crabtree... He's confident, he has the size, he has some skills and he does have great stats but Im not sold on his route running, his explosiveness and his speed. Im not sure he's a franchise wide receiver in the NFL... Im going to wait and see what his 40 time is at the NFL Combine. If he runs a 4.42 or lower then I think our Raiders should seriously consider him.
Players I would draft ahead of Crabtree:
Michael Oher LT
Andre Smith LT
Eugene Monroe LT
Michael Johnson DE
George Selvie DE
Rey Maualuga LB
Brian Cushing LB
James Laurinaitis LB
Ciron Black LT
Michael Crabtree WR
Taylor Mays S
