Also, I don't like the zone argument. If you go with Dorsey, then you can say our running game will be good enough. But in our system Dmac has the potential to rush for a lot of yards and add a dimension that no one on our roster last Friday could. The Broncos were only great when they had TD. Now, they lucked out and got TD late, but you can't count on that. The system didn't make TD, TD & the system were a deadly combo. A good zone team can make a mediocre back good, a good back great, and a great back elite. 10 to 1 says we have great or elite in Dmac.

My Grade. A
The Raiders could have addressed other needs, but with one pick in the first three rounds it was paramount to grab the best player available. And adding an all pro CB who is only 24 years old with your 2nd round pick ain't too shabby either.

Great post bro, good points

For our drafting itself I would give us a C. When you factor in the traded picks it comes up to a B-.

We got a DE beast, 2 Wr fast, CB to replace fabio, best player in the entire draft Dmac. If we were able to nab a OT and maybe a DT then I would have given an A but overall a solid B.

This draft is proof davis is spun. He gets wood for guy's and thinks everyone else is conspiring to take them. So he takes them 2 or 3 rounds before they should go. Totally blowing off the teams dire needs. You mcfader homers are pathetic. And incidently, the steelers got the best RB in the draft.

Overall Grade is D-. McFadden is the only player upgrade we get outta this draft. Cant believe we did NOTHING to shore up the run defense and add an OT to protect Jamarcus and/or open holes for Run DMc. Then we give away Fabian Washington and turnaround and waste the pick on a WR. Just awful.

I agree totally...while teams like Indy pick players who were leaders on their team (ie Mike Hart), we're taking physical specimans and projects.....sigh

I wouldve tried to make a play for Jason Taylor. Fabian with a 7th this year and say next yrs 3rd. I know Miami was looking for a 1 nxt yr but that was rather insane. A pass rusher opposite Burgess would improve our D......even if hes 33. Hes got a few good seasons left

I love that trade scenerio for us. Problem is, tuna unlike davis will not lose more in a trade then is exceptable with him. Even at 33 taylor is still a force. He's worth the 4 million he will get this season. And he's a true pro and will not pull a,"sands or woodsen",ie; go in the tank on the field. davis just doesn't care about,"character" players. It's all about flash dash and big.

NFL Draft grades are given for the NFL Marketing vehicle.

In the front office and in the real football world -- grades are given out 1-2 years after.

For example, last year people screamed and kicked about Chargers draft -- you grade that this year (A or B).

And so on and so on.....

Too early for grades-- the grades that should only be given out is this:

-Were issues addressed (yes or no).

Period

On the other hand, maybe we learned a lessen from having brought in another 33-34 yo Miami DE and signed him to a lucrative deal. The difference would have been that this time, it would have also cost us a top pick that, by the way, we did not have.

Taylor is a player to consider if a team is ready to compete for the big prize now, not in a few years.
