Draft day will be more fun than usual...

I love draft day anyway. But this year I think will be even more fun. We got lots of ammunition to trade now that we signed Hall. I figure we are able to dangle Routt, Washington, Carr, and our 1st to who ever will listen. Crazy scenario #1 of what will probably be many on this site...

Trade: #4 overall to dallas for #'s 22 and 28-they get McFadden
With the 22nd pick overall, we grab...Philip Merling, DE, Clemson. Arguably the best DE in the draft against the run. Plays immediately in rotation with Richardson and Burgess.

With the 28th pick we get...Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt. Huge man who could start from day 1.

Trade: Fabian Washington and our 5th round pick this year to New Orleans for the 40th pick in the 2nd round. Just heard Charlie Casserly on NFL Access say that New Orleans is desperate for corners. Perfect for us, as we have many.
With the 40th pick we get...Trevor Laws, DT, Notre Dame. I think Kiffin fell in love with him at the Senior Bowl. And why not? The guy was in the backfield non-stop. Plays right away, and probably starts midway through the year.

Now keep in mind, it is around 7:30am for me and my mind is on the weekend, but your thoughts?

Don't thinks Dallas will give us two first rounders..but a first and second..So the best LT left on the board and Laws in the second sounds good to me..if we stick at 4th i would like to see Gholston or Jake Long..

First of all Carr is a RFA and cannot be traded. Secondly, the Raiders do not have a 5th Round pick to go with the Washington trade you mention. The 5th Round pick was used on Warren.

To a certain extent, Atlanta hold the keys to this draft. A lot of what they do will depend on how enamoured they are with Matt Ryan. If they do not think he is their guy, they may also talk to Dallas about trading reducing the Raiders bargaining power on this.

The main thing I hope is that the Raiders do not draft Vernon Gholston under any circumstances.

Matt Ryan nailed his pro day.....

SI.com - Writers - Don Banks: All eyes on Ryan at pro day workout - Wednesday March 19, 2008 12:44PM

Atlanta is taking him... it's a dead giveaway... he is the all-american "clean as a whistle" prototype they are looking for to redeem themself from this Michael Vick mess....

They are going to draft Ryan... Raiders will have all the leverage with Dallas @ #4

Indeed, according to the value chart, even getting 22 and 28 falls short.

No. 4 = 1800 points, whereas

22 and 28 = 780 + 660 = 1440 points

So they'd have to throw in 360 points which equals the 50th overall pick.

If they want to move up and get an elite talent, they will have to pay the going rate.

Not only would Dallas have to give both #1 picks, but at least a 3rd, as well....

Could be interesting or very boring. If we have 1 first day pick and 3 second day picks it will not be interesting no matter who we pick not to say there will be no excitement from the camp of the player we do pick and bitching from the other camps. If we make some trades which would be my preferrence it could be very exciting..There is still going to be the sky is falling panic from the McFadden, C Long, G Dorsey, S Ellis, J Long and Ghoston camps. Not to say that trading down will solve our problem and it may turn out we draft a bunch of busts and the top 5 players picked all turn out to be stars but that is the draft. It is and will always be a crap shoot.

Al would not even consider that trade at all. 2-1st, 1-2nd and an additional player or pick in this or next years draft would be the minimum he would take.
