Very good article on jake Long!

While I have not been overly impressed with Jake Long base upon the few games I have seen we should still consider him because we need a LT and given his ability with our OLine coach he could be the difference between us having a top notch OLine and having an average one. Look at what happened to the Rams offense when Pace went down.

As you read the article ask your self, is this guy an upgrade over Sims?

Long allowed only one sack this year, against Ohio State. He has incredible technique for a 6-foot-7, 315-pounder. And Long set an impressive standard each time Michigan ran a play, not committing a penalty all season.

thats what i been trying to say..With Cable at coaching the offense line..he can do wonders with Long..we seen what he can do with with less-talented players..i would love to see what he can do with Long..

He can play LT..He gets alot of Hate on the internet for some reason..

people aways try and compare him the Gallery for some reason..but there are 2 totaly differnt prospect.there are only 3 things you can compare..1.there both white.2.they both have tattoos..and 3.they both played in the Big Ten..and that is all..

Lets face it Gallery is a nancy boy..Jake is not..

But I dont know if Al would draft him tho..Kiffin would realy have to sell him to al..i would realy wish he was playing at the senior bowl..

for some reason i see oakland losing the coin toss..and if thigs go the way there suppose to go.the pick will come down to Ellis or Jake Long..

right now he is either 2 or 3 on my wish list right now..

and Michigan does produce some great offense line talent..

I agree man some of the comparison are just kinda biased to me. A lot of people were waiting for Jake Long to slip up and say SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE just like the BUST gallery. If Jake Long was black it would be a whole different scenario.

Oh come on with the Racist crap........Gallery was the highest Ranked LT and he is developing slowly(kinda busted) thats why people are paranoid of Tackles in general.
By the way there is a kid out of Boise state who is REALLY BIG and athletic named Ryan Clady some say he projects as the best OT. I seen them both play a couple of times and they both dominate. It should be interesting to see who moves up and down at the combine.

Its not right but everytime a conversation with a Tackle comes up i hear stuff like that from my buddies. It kinda pisses me off but o well.

I would be very content if Jake Long was taken with the 4th pick. I know Oakland got burned with Gallery, but it's no reason to project that failure on a completely different individual. This team needs to protect Russell's blind side for the next 10 years or so, and J. Long's resume is very impressive. Just one sack allowed vs. Ohio St.! If we don't take him, KC sure will.
Like someone else mentioned, both Gallery and J.Long are white and have some tattoos. That is where the comparisons need to end.

I would love to see Jake Long in Silver and Black. He seems to have that mean streak you need to be an effective OLine in the NFL. As for us needing a LT, your damn right we need a LT. Or am I the only guy that saw JaMarcus get blind-sided in the charger game? The reality of the situation is that, unless Dallas takes Dorsey, St. Louis takes C. Long and the Falcons win the toss and take McFadden, we aren't taking him. Though if we do take him and Pat Sims falls to the second round and we can scope him up, i'll be happy.

also keep in mind its one of the positions where you dont find many starting FA or teams willing to trade their Starter, so we must draft us a LT and get this continuity and stability thing going as soon as possible.

i also think there are gonna be upgrades over Sims on top of the 2nd round capable of giving him a battle in camp, so we would still be able to upgrade that position even with DOrsey or McFadden being the first IMO but i would be happy if it was Long or Clady being added to the roster.

so0 having said that i wouldnt be surprised at all if we do try to tab our future LT very early again this year. all i need is a look at the depth chart or our last game against the Chockers....
