Under the Radar(Jonathan Stewart)

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings...php?pyid=56918

A perfect example why we don't need DMAC. While everyone can't stop talking about McFadden, Jonathan Stewart could possibly be the better NFL back. This is a bit of a homer pick as I have been a Duck fan for most of my life, but just look at what the guy does on a pass first team like Oregon and how versatile he is:
Quote:
2007 All-Pac-10 Conference First Team (Coaches): RB Jonathan Stewart was a unanimous first-team choice after leading the Pac-10 in rushing (122.4 avg.) and ranking 10th in the country. The Ducks’ single-season rushing (1,469 yards) and all-purpose yards (2,199) record-holder also ranks second in the league in all-purpose yards and third in kickoff returns. He also has been selected a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association. - Oregon Football
NFLdraftscout.com has him Rated number 2 out of 138 RB's. Trust me, the NFL scouts are not sleeping on this guy.

we will start to see alot more threads about this guy after the combine cause he should test very well..

but Cant see him slip into the top 10..cause team needs.maybe 12 to denver or 14 to the bears..but his best chance is Houston at 18.

Nope we have to have McFadden. We don't need help on the DLine...but we do need another RB. (100% Sarcasm) I'd much rather go with Aldridge in the 5th. 959 yards on 95 carries and a 4.26 40....good golly

Stewart is a playmaker and will be a 1st round pick maybe if we traded down an option but not at #3 or 4!

Ohh yea, don't get me wrong. Not only am I NOT for drafting a RB that high, or even at all, but I would prefer to drop down in the first, pick up Stewart and maybe an extra second and third. The point of the thread was to show there is quality without picking up DMAC that high. For the first time ever, I am all for trading down.

ghostbone32 is on a distinguished road
I agree with jave bout trading down. Remember last year, that the cowboys jerry jones LOVES mcfadden. maybe we could trade with them since they do have 2 first round this year (brady quinn trade w/ browns) and we dont have a third round this year. if we cant trade down for extra picks, i think we should take chris long. imo, he knows the raiders tradition just like his daddy did. Also, since i live in michigan, and being a huge mi fan, imo jake long will have trouble in nfl due to speed just look what v gholstan did to him. jake long reminds me another Robert Gallery.

I went to Oregon and I've been watching him for 3 years now so I'll give a quick evaluation of him
He's got superhuman strength (benches 500lbs), great vision and patience, he has great agility and burst, he's not overly fast in the open field but this is really just being picky as he does have very good speed, just not elite level. His top attribute however is that he is almost impossible to take down on the first contact, it regularly takes several players to bring him down so he always gets extra yards after contact.

That's the good news, the bad news (or good news if you are an Oregon fan as I am) is that he is not certain to declare for the draft, in fact, he's a very humble, religious, and family oriented man so if there were a player to ever come back for his senior season it would be him. Rumor is that his mother wants him to finish school, if this is true then it is almost certain that he's be back at Oregon next season.
