As we can all see the Raiders are in great need of offensive playmakers. They need to target a OL, DL and Safety in Free agency. I feel this is the best way to rebuild the lines, I really think Al will be gun shy on drafting a OL early in the first. C Long would be nice but I remember reading somewhere that Al was up set with Howie for retiring early so that may turn him off to Chris.
This draft should be a deep one especially with RB and WR. Possible stud RBs in this draft are ( in no specific order) Mike Hart, Allen Patrick, Chris Johnson, Darren McFadden, Jonathan Stewart, Steve Slaton, Felix Jones, Rashard Mendenhall, James Davis and Jamaal Charles Possible stud Wrs in this draft are (in no specific order) Limas Sweed, Malcolm Kelly, DeSean Jackson, Adarius Bowman, Early Doucet, Harry Douglas, James Hardy, Andre Caldwell and a personal favorite Lavelle Hawkins. My hope would be that Al, Kiff and staff would target the best RB/Wr combo for what they want to do on offense and do everything possible to get both of them. Maybe trade down with Dallas and pick up two picks in the late first round. What do you guys think is this a good idea or not? |

This year could be the first time I'd actually approve of trading down BUT ONLY if one of the following is not available.....Chris Long, Darren McFadden, Glenn Dorsey, and James Lauranitis. Those are the players that not only have the most potential but also have the least "bust" potential as well. Now I think guys like Gholston and Jake Long are good prospects, but they don't make me get the same excitement that those forementioned players do, or the thought of having two very solid players instead of one so so player who we would be paying mucho dolares for. Fact is, we still have the bowl games, the senior bowl, the combine, and the rest of the NFL season before we can even consider who is going where!

Last years draft. Round 2 we swapped with Arizona.
They took Alan Branch-and I haven't heard anything about him really since. We got Zach Miller-blossoming quite nicely imo If you meant strictly 1st round picks only then yes I cannot recall a trade down off the top of my head.

If nobody traded up for Calvin Johnson last year with all the hype he got I don't think it will happen this year either. I think the majority of teams are scared to bet the farm on a top 5 pick because you have to give up a lot to get there.

I know the Raiders are known to not trade down and things like that but that doesn't mean it won't happen.
"Al Davis doesn't draft QB's in the 1st round" was said alot during draft time and guess who we drafted?? Now I know it is VERY hard to trade down when you are that high these days so I'm not saying there is a good chance of it happening but I'm just saying the reason why we didn't do it won't be because of past draft happenings. |

if we don't win any more games then we'll most likely end up in the top five. its a known fact that Jerry Jones has a serious man crush on Darren McFadden since last year and a lot of the teams ahead of us in the draft order have more pressing needs than RB, with maybe NYJ being the only other team who may want McFadden. if thats the case, a trade down with them for both their 1s and their 2nd like a previous poster mentioned, may be viable.

We're not gonna fix the team with one or two players. I really think trading down should be seriously looked at. Apart from a compensatory pick in the third (if we get one) we don't have a pick in that round.
Trade down and get more picks. |
