This holdout is the one of the best things to happen to JaMarcus and the Raiders. It is a blessing in disguise.
Not only is JaMarcus forced to sit the season and learn like he should considering he skipped senior year and is not ready (in my eyes) to take over, but Culpepper might have an amazing season and lead us to glory which would not have happened had Russell signed.

No, and one thing if we sign they guy give him a chance...he is still a rookie and if we want him to ever be a great raider qb he has to have our support, he's gonna need it ( and we are gonne need it to).

What happened to this thread?
"russells-agents-crazy-raiders-have-them-gonads" It says it's been moved, but where to? When I click on it it comes up with an error message from RFnet. I wanted to read up on the posts I've missed since I last posted on there. |

Tentative mock drafts for 2008 have Colt Brennan going as far down as middle first round. So, if we go around 6-10 or 8-8 we would be in a position to get him.
We'd have to go 1-15 or 2-14 to get Brohm, because there are gonna be some real bad records next year. Unless we trade the 'world' for the #1. |

yeah, i think once russell does sign, we should start grooming him into the quarterback of the future that he is supposed to be.
i was always in favor of benching him for the season and taking the Carson Palmer route. the McCown deal eased my mind, and the Culpepper deal sewed it all up. now we can take more time and try and save some money. but really, people should be excited about Brennan. 58 td's in one year is amazing no matter where you play, and he can make "all the throws" for the NFL. |

It's worth a hypothetical. If Russell signs and to a contract Al is happy with, then fine. But if for any reason the contractual dispute continues week after week.

However, as a "fun thought" I would prefer Brian Brohm over Colt Brennan if the Raiders needed a QB in the 2008 draft. |
