Play it as it lies: An introduction to my blog

So I saw BK's invitation to start writing blog entries, so I decided to take him up on his opportunity. This first entry will just be to just tell you guys a little bit about me and be able to familiarize you guys with me.
First off, I'd like to explain why I picked the title of my blog to be "Play it as it lies". I chose this golf phrase for a couple of reasons, with the first one being that I am an avid golfer; but this is not the real reason. I chose the phrase because I believe it can be applicable to many aspects in life. Over the past year there have been many events in my life, such as losing a good friend to a freak accident and another good friend being diagnosed with cancer, that have allowed me to realize that life can be too short and that I need to appreciate what you have. In a way, I believe "Play it as it lies" is appropriate to life in the sense that life is too short, so you need to work with what you have instead of spending time fretting on past events and/or failures.
"Play it as it lies" is also applicable to our lives on this forum, and more importantly as Raider fans. As Raider fans, I know we don't all always agree with some of the moves that Al Davis makes, but in the end we are all Raider fans. This being true, if you are like me, no matter what players take the field on Sunday (or Monday or Thursday) donning our beloved Silver and Black, you will roll with them as "your team" and root for them; in a sense, you will "play it as it lies".
Well enough about the name of my blog, now some information about me and what I will cover on this blog.
I am a 23-year-old journalism major at Sacramento State and will be graduating this year with my Bachelor's degree. I went to Cal Poly in SLO (Madden's alma mater) to obtain my Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, but then realized I didn't want to sit in a cubicle all day for work. This is when I decided to transfer back closer to home and get my degree in journalism. I have always enjoyed writing and sports, so why not combine them. I currently cover the Sacramento Kings for a local website, which I absolutely love. There is nothing more fun than watching a game that I would watch anyways, and then going into the locker room afterwards to ask the players questions.
As a journalism major, I will attempt to write blog entries that are not bias. I hope to be able to bring an accurate account of Raider information, all the while still inserting my thoughts and views on recent moves, previous games, etc. I have not yet decided how I will cover this, but I hope to find a convenient and enjoyable way for any readers I may obtain. I encourage comments and feedback, as I am doing this for interaction with fellow Raider fans, and hope to also gain feedback on my writing. All that I ask is that your comments are constructive. This means they are either feedback or they bring something to the conversation. If you have something negative to say about my writing, please do it in a respectful manner.
If you have any suggestions about what you would like me to write, please don't hesitate to let me know. Hope you enjoy my blog as the season progresses. GO RAIDERS!
