Sensationalistic, Irresponsible journalism is the real Crime of the century.

The media has perpetrated the crime of the centry. The Crime of over exaggerating everything to make it more sinister, more dark, worse than it really is. I for one am whole heartedly tired of it. Are you?
The media has to make the story interesting even if there is nothing there to be interested in. They over exaggerate headlines to get you to read the articles. The television news always over states their tag lines to get you interested enough to watch the news and it almost always turns out to be disappointing because it wasn't anything near what they inferred in the tagline.
What we need is a paper and a television and radio station that tell nothing but the facts! No party slants to it, no editorials telling you their slanted perspective trying to influence your thoughts on the subject. If we had that there would be no such thing as Political Correctness! If we had that I think there would be less prejudice in the world. If we had that life wouldn't be so full of bad news. Yes bad news, because that is what this journalism amounts to, bad news.
I say no more! It should be a crime for the TV news, news papers or radio to give more than the facts and not call it an "Opinion" article. They don't, in every section of the paper they put their own slant on everything that happens. They should not be allowed to call it a news paper unless it contains facts and only facts.
Of course that will never happen. We are talking about people trying to make money. About huge media conglomerates trying to change your views on life through their media outlets. They want you to buy more so they can get richer, so of course they aren't going to report only the facts. To report only the facts means that all of these slanted articles would be gone and they would have less of a product and couldn't justify selling news papers at $1.50 a day. It would also mean that they would lose their ability to affect your thinking and thus lose the tiny bit of perceved power they possess.

Unfortunately that's the job of the media... create the sensationalism. We see it in newspapers, television the news. Their job is to create it in such a way the common joe finds it interesting and wants to come back for more. Is it right or wrong? I don't worry about it really, but that's the nature of the beast when you have media outlets 24-7, 365... if you aren't creating a buzz you are yesterday's news!
