Playoffs? An 8-8 season? How bout winning a GD game in our division first?!
What about that , huh? That's right I'm a little fired up , why? Well maybe it's because I haven't seen my team win a division game since Hector was a pup (as the late great Lakers announcer Chick Hearn would say).
The rock hit bottom last season as the short lived 2nd Art Shell era came and went without a blink of an eye and Raider Nation endured arguably the saddest season in it's rich history!
Sure it'd be nice to predict our record looking at the schedule and playing win loss win loss but unless we're playing that game high on cocaine there's honestly no way we can realistically come to a reasonable conclusion that we're all that much better than we we're last season , especially without having seen a single regular season game....
In fact last year was so painful that I'm not even going through the schedule game by game this year to predict what I think our record will be , no thanks...
That's a first for me , that had become a yearly ritual dating back to when I was a little kid using my allowance to pay for the Street & Smiths NFL preview mag that came out every summer....
No , I think I'm gonna take a pass this year from setting my hopes high , or getting my hopes up in general....
Some sort of a defense mechanism you could say....
The philosophical changes new coach Lane Kiffin and his staff have implemented in the team are promising and refreshing but until we see exactly how we stack up in games that count we really don't have any idea what we're in for....
Some are hoping for an astronomical turnaround which would make the 06 Saints and the 2000 Rams proud , Some are hoping for an 8-8 campaign , but myself the one thing I'll be dammed if I don't see this year if nothing else , is a GD win against an AFC West team!
And what better place to do that than at Invesco field 9-16-07 , site of the last division win for our beloved Raiders THREE seasons ago!
