A little poem

Posted 05-11-2008 at 08:46 PM by JayCee
A little poem I wrote for the Raider Nation when I wasn't feeling good.

The Raider Nation

Land of football, passion and dedication. Place of heart, heat and hate.
People of joy, generosity and honesty.

The Raider Nation is everywhere. It's citizens live near and far.
From California to New York, from England to Germany, from Japan to Australia.
All hungry for success.

While the team will lose at times,

Draft 08 from a non-expert's perspective

Posted 04-28-2008 at 03:42 PM by JayCee
One day after the draft, I have a strong feeling we may have made the right calls.
First, we drafted McFadden with our #4 pick. Running back wasn't a position of need, no doubt about that.
Was it still the right pick? Absolutely!
We have a QB who still needs to develop his game in Oakland. How to speedup this progress? Give him weapons on his side of the ball. Darren McFadden will be this weapon. He will be the player that makes JaMarcus Russell better.
There're still...

We Will!

Posted 04-21-2008 at 07:23 PM by JayCee
Dear Friends,

let me get this straight. Positivity doesn't mean "jump around smiling even if there's no reason to". It's more like "get excited about the season and support the Oakland Raiders".
If we don't have a good season, we will move on and try again.

Let me go back a couple of months. My local basketball team. Half way through the season, on a good way to a relegation battle . We lost game after game after game. The fans got bitter...

My Oakland Raiders Story

Posted 03-28-2008 at 07:50 PM by JayCee
A slightly cut version was already up on raiders.com, but for those who haven't read it yet, this is the story about how I became a Raider fan.
Special thanks to WookieRaider for the help, raiders.com for the awesome prize and of course my Dad, Boon H. Chew.

As a fan I put all my heart and the entirety of my soul into each and every game. I read every article and post on fan boards. I watch or listen to every game the Raiders play no matter what the time difference....

JayCee's beer of the week! Today: Franziskaner

Posted 03-28-2008 at 02:20 PM by JayCee
ALERT! ALERT!

This is probably the best German brew out there. Franziskaner is an excellent Hefeweizen from the famous Spaten brewery. If you don't like Hefeweizen, this one will make you like them. Very smooth, nice color and a mind exploding taste. The banana taste is a little less than on other Hefeweizen's. There is a beautiful citrusy body and surprisingly peppery spicy finishing. A 12oz bottle is around $1.5 in the US.
This beer is my personal recommendation!

JayCee's beer of the week! Today: Maximator

Posted 03-11-2008 at 03:33 AM by JayCee
Augustiner's Maximator is a rich German Doppelbock at 7.5%.
The taste is malty/ caramel and hops with a nice clean fruity and bitter finishing note.
Pours rather thick, almost like a liquor, dark red/ brown in color.
The good thing about Maximator is the price. Compared to some of the similar Belgian beers, this one is just as good and lot cheaper in the US.
Best served at 5 °C (41 °F)

Enjoy

JayCee's beer of the week! Today: Paulaner

Posted 03-03-2008 at 03:33 PM by JayCee
Paulaner is a beautiful colored Hefeweizen from Munich. Poured into a glass, you get a large white head that lasts longer than on other Hefeweizen.
The taste and smell is bready with banana and a slight spiciness. Connoisseurs in beer will also notice the slight similarity to a good English Ale, lifted with a silky consistence.
You should be able to get it in well assorted liqior stores across the US. Make sure you buy it bottled! Cool it down to ~4°C (~39°F)

Enjoy...
