Draft 08 from a non-expert's perspective

One day after the draft, I have a strong feeling we may have made the right calls.
First, we drafted McFadden with our #4 pick. Running back wasn't a position of need, no doubt about that.
Was it still the right pick? Absolutely!
We have a QB who still needs to develop his game in Oakland. How to speedup this progress? Give him weapons on his side of the ball. Darren McFadden will be this weapon. He will be the player that makes JaMarcus Russell better.
There're still some time and possibilities left to address our defensive line (June 1st cuts etc.), so drafting McFadden over Dorsey is okay in my book.
Tyvon Branch. The feared "Oh No...." pick. But on a closer look, it wasn't a stupid pick at all. We got a player who can play both Cornerback and Safety and looks like a perfect ST player. Chris Carr went to the Titans and with our tackle-specialist Stuart Schweigert leaving, we have Gibril Wilson, Hiram Eugene, Jarrod Cooper and Michael Huff left.
Tyvon is, from what I've read, a player that is not only fast, but also knows how to tackle.
Remember how players ran over Stu like he was one big Marshmallow? I don't think we gonna see that with Tyvon Branch.
The next picks were WR, WR and DE. Prospects, camp fodder. Call it what you want. Chaz Schilens however, wide receiver out of San Diego State, looks like a promising kid. Great athleticism and sick measurables. Definitely worth a 7th round pick in my opinion.
Overall, this draft was boring due to the low number of picks.
But on a closer look, we made some good picks. And let's not foget that we had a pretty good offseason already before the draft.
Maybe 1-2 more FA signings and we'll get this train rollin' for sure!
