Goodbye Samson Satele, and good luck with the Colts.

Perhaps the saddest part of the progression from being a fan of a Super Bowl contender to being a fan who lived on past pride was the drop of the center position. Of course the position has been dropping since Jim Otto, as it must. It is sad to peak so early. Dave Dalby and Don Mosebar were great to have.
Barret Robbins was a star until he became one of pro football's saddest stories. Adam Treu was great to have in the face of collapse, but the center position has not been the same since the Robbins crash. We all have hopes for Wisneiwski, but he has yet to prove himself at center.
Satele was the center for the recovery of the Raiders offensive line. Sure, he was not a pro-bowl player, and his game had weaknesses. But he was good enough to be part of a great offensive line last year. Good enough in the years before that that I did not cringe about the center position. He rescued us from Jake Grove.
With Wisniewski moving to center we could not give him the type of contract the Colts gave him (3 years, $10.8 million, $5 million guaranteed). I wish him the best.
