Plan for success, what is it?

Posted 10-02-2008 at 02:22 AM by HITMAN
Now that the smoke has finally begun to clear, it’s time we view this situation realistically. Some will side with Kiffin some with Davis and that’s okay, but as fans we have to view this for what it is a total embarrassment.

After watching Al Davis’ press conference to address the Lane Kiffin situation it was clearer to me than any other time the man doesn’t have a plan to get out of this mess. I’ve heard the same refrain for the last six seasons and these words ring hollower every time I hear them; “we will win” and “we will get this fixed”.

If Al Davis truly had a plan in place he would stick with it and allow it to take seed and develop accordingly. “Just Win Baby” is not a plan, a blueprint or a design on how this franchise is going to fix the problem, it’s an over used slogan that has become more of a joke. I would like to know what the plan is to win and fix the mess we’ve seen?

I’m neither supporting nor taking sides in this issue, simply because it’s a moot point to argue who was right and who was wrong.

The Raiders do not have a plan, will not have a plan and in my opinion have no designs of formulating a plan. Five coaches in the last six seasons isn’t a plan, it’s a stopgap solution to a bigger problem that exists with this franchise. When you hire yes men who are afraid to disagree with the direction, this is exactly what we as fans see and get.

Will we see success? I doubt it, but as a fan I’ve learned to deal with the futility, the chaos and lack of direction. It’s sad that we are seeing a very successful franchise continue to sink deeper in this black hole of failure.

The comment was made that Al Davis doesn’t care about the Raiders; I don’t believe he doesn’t care, but I do believe he truly believes the hyperbole that he tells the media in these press conferences. No, the greatness of the Raiders isn’t in its future. The greatness of the Raiders was in its past and in its history. All I see in the future is more coaching changes, more questionable drafts and questionable free agent signings.

That is not a plan to succeed, it’s a desperate move, by a desperate man hoping to catch the lighting in a bottle that he had with Jon Gruden. Change is good when you are all on the same page, but when you have a variety of pages, change only creates more chaos, confusion and failure. To fix the problem you have to first acknowledge there is a problem when that happens, we might see success. Just my opinion…

interesting read, but you use those phrases like he said them yesterday...there were no cliches, just information for the most part

But it's the same refrain... so my question is how are you going to fix them Al? please explain it so I know that you are doing everything in your power to make it happen... saying 'we will win" and "we will fix it" mean absolutely nothing if you don't have a plan in place... As a fan I want to know what the franchise is going to do to fix it...

As much as Al Davis has done for this franchise, heck football period. the only way for this fix is for Al Davis to be completly out of the Raiders picture. Which will probably will only happen if the man passed. There is a Black cloud over the Raiders right now, and the only way to loose that cloud is if Al Davis vanishes like a fart in the wind. He's not totaly to blame for what has been happening these past years. But action does reflect leadership.

Nice read! It is indeed sad to see this once proud franchise in the hole that it is in. It seems like eons ago that the Raiders were in the Super Bowl in 02. I tire of the Raider franchise being the butt of jokes and the like. I am a fan, and my support of this team runs deep, but I see no light at the end of the tunnel.....

Do you have what it takes to be the next Raiders coach?? It appears old Al Davis has finally lost his mind and put out a website looking for the next coach. See if you have the qualifications needed. Check out the page here.
