Raider Nation, It's Time to Rally
Posted 10-02-2008 at 08:22 AM by cfiorica
The past several weeks...heck, even months have taken a collective toll on this proud nation (Raider Nation). Now, there has been some resolution to all the finger pointing and posturing that has been going on of late. I emplore the nation to now put all that behind us, it is what is. Our leader, Al Davis, isn't going anywhere, anytime soon and thus it is now time to rally behind our team and our new coach.
Let's look at some of the positive's...Since the Raiders have taken control over the tickets, more sellouts have happend at the Coliseum, this is a good thing. Let's take back homefield advantage and make the Coliseum a feared place for opposing teams once again!
Tom Cable grew up a Raider fan...the man is coaching in his dream job. He knows where he is at, who he works for and the team he now leads. Will he succeed? That remains to be seen. Nonetheless, no matter what you thought of Kiffin or what you think of Al, the Nation needs to rally behind Coach Cable. Any number of Raider fans would love to be in his position right now, myself included, coaching the Silver and Black.
The team offensive ohilosophy won't change much. If anything we are going to balance things out more like we did against San Diego. With OC Knapp calling the plays we will see some more screens, quick dump-offs and then when the defense least expects an 80+ yard bomb. With HC Cable we can be assured that our run game will continue to be in the top 10 of the league or higher.
Our team is young and talented and with a little more direction and confidence, they will be winning more and more games. But they need to start with New Orleans, and take each game as if it was their first AND their last. But they need our support. Let's leave the past behind, move forward and let Al and Kiffin fight their battle while we fight New Orleans next!

I'm going to have to agree with you here.
Al, Lane, Norv, Bill, John, I don't care. As long as they are the Raiders, I stand behind them. |

Do you have what it takes to be the next Raiders coach?? It appears old Al Davis has finally lost his mind and put out a website looking for the next coach. See if you have the qualifications needed. Check out the page here.

I agree 100%There is nothing we can do about the past. What we can do is show support for our team and have some faith that everyone will do what they can to see this turn around.
First things first, let's start by beating the Saints! Go RAIDERS!! |

Am I upset at how Al handled things? Yes
Do I think Kffin will be a good coach, once givin a proper chance? Yes Do I have concerns over how Cable will take over? Yes Am I glad that the MLB post season is here to take my mind off of the Raiders drama? Yes Will I be wearing my Silver & Black when the Raiders come off of their bye week to play the Saints? HELL YEAH! As a parting gesture to Kiffin, I will adopt his attitude on things he has no control over. I will not worry about the things I don't have control over and just focus on the things that are within my control, like supporting our RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Since I used to work for Al Davis I feel uniquely qualified to pontificate on his abilities and lack of same. Way back in 1974, as a proud usher, and later unarmed security gaurd, for the once and now again Oakland Alameda County Coliseum who only quit after getting demoted to the parking lot....yes....I more or less "worked for Al"...
Never actually met the man but I got to watch some AMAZING football and got PAID the amazing amount of around $3 an hour for my pleasure. Best two years ever. Al was a good boss and I got paid every week but he messed up letting them demote me to the parking lot....no free game to watch....I quit! But I digress. Face it guys....we came in this year knowing it was going to be a painful (yet again) rebuilding season. We have a young team and a young QB, and used to have a young coach. Kiffin knew who we was going to work for when he took the job. Kiffin, IMHO, decided he was smarter than Al, and when Al started busting his chops he tried to play it his way. Probably took the job with this in mind from the start. His way was to clam up and try to get Al to fire him ASAP so he could move on through family connections he has to an offensive coordinator position or whatever somewhere else. Most second or third tier college assistant coaches would at least have to produce some evidence of progress in their first NFL gig...but Kiffin is apparently so well connected none of that will matter for him and he is the smart one to simply try and steal 2 or 3 million of Al's money on his way through because he can. I work for a boss. Most all of us do. If you went to work on Monday and told the company and press you and the boss weren't talking anymore, you'd be out of a job in most companies. It's a condition of employment. You have to communicate with your boss somehow. Doesn't matter if Al started it or Kiffin started it....Al pays the salary. Kiffin forced the issue, whatever you think about Al. The other thing that bothered me about Kiffin is how quickly he kept selling out his fellow team mates and coaches when under fire. First he couldn't make player decisions....then he couldn't fire Ryan....etc...etc.... HEAD coaches are paid to STFU and take the heat. That's always been true, no matter who signs the paychecks. Kiffin's lucky Al didn't move his a55 to the parking lot... This had to happen in order for us to move on and start (once again) to make our team back in to what it used to be. Al did not have to go into a paranoid rant about lies and untruths and whatevers....al Al had to do is go on to ESPN and say very quietly... "He's fired".... That is all he should have said. Al should stay off camera these days. Al is pi55ed off at Kiffin for trying what he did though....and Al's going to fight it even if it costs him 10 times as much in court. Remember Shanahan's unpaid salary? Different situation I know....but the same "spirit" prevails. None of that matters....the original author of this blog has it right....it's time to rally. What matters is we continue to get behind our Raiders. I don't root for Al Davis, I root for the team. That's what seperates the Raider Haters who can't forgive Al for moving to LA from those of us who still bleed silver and black. The TEAM has an excellent chance right now. A chance to show that THEY....as a TEAM....have something to say about all this. I hope they do. The D's been solid....but wore down twice the last two games....the O's got some lessons to learn....and they will. Our passion to support them will help to make it happen faster. We will win some games....the TEAM is playing better. Maybe that was Kiffin's doing?.....I don't know.....some of it no doubt....but the distraction and soap opera had to hurt. Anyone care to speculate on what Cable had to say to the team? |

Good Reads, Al Davis needs to swallow his pride and step away from this, unless he wants to be remembered for the man who destroyed it ,rather then the one who built it. Pride will always desrtroy even the most powerfull.
GO RAIDERS!!! |
