Hype?? We don't need no stinking HYPE!!

With the end of March in sight, the annual passage to NFL manhood begins as teams jockey for position in preparation for the NFL draft. As a message board junky, I can tell you that the passion fans have for the draft may be at an all time high as teams are literally being bombarded by the strong opinions of the fans.
On this site alone, not a day goes by without at least a couple new draft threads. Informed fans continue to express their desires for the selection the Raiders possess at number four.
But there is an under current of activity that is going on that has not happened since 2004, and before that, in 2000-2001. The Raiders are shopping for groceries. In a year that rivals some of their best years, the Raiders have written paper to the tune of 5-7 new starters next season. Each pick up has his version of baggage, but one thing is certain, the Raiders are taking full advantage of their new found money Davis received recently when he sold off a portion of the team to a group of investors.
But as for the signings themselves, there can be no doubt that a win now attitude will be everywhere in the locker room when players hit the field this spring. Gone is the term "rebuilding" and in it's place will be an almost certain demand to "commitment" to "just win" and your "in" the playoffs.
Fans, believe the hype. This is a new team. It has very few components that lost 11 games last year. The new crop of Raiders have much to prove, as many of them are reclamation projects. Many have all the tools to be successful, and some of them are coming off of injury riddled years. But the hype is real. This has the makings of the core group that Gruden brought in his second year as the Raider head coach. At that time, many players were anxious about coming to Oakland, so the process started with a core group of misfits. Once they began to gel, it became easier to attract better vets and ultimately culminated in a run to the Super Bowl. We just signed our misfits.
To do this right, our solo first day pick must be a good one. Personally, I don't care who it is as long as they impact the team from day one...and that they sign before camp.
Hype, as defined, can mean: to intensify (advertising, promotion, or publicity) by ingenious or questionable claims, methods, etc. So which is it, ingenious or questionable claims? I will let you know in December, but as of right now, I am leaning towards genious.
