The big 3 at DT

Posted 05-29-2008 at 07:00 PM by Mykle VanHausen
With Hall of fame candidate Warren Sapp off the map, Oakland looks to improve its suffering defense from within.

Unsubstantiated rumor has it Oakland defensive tackle Terdell Sands lost family members in 2007.

A drop off in motivation and production would be more than understandable, but I can't find mention of it anywhere out side of forums.

I've heard this before and if true, my condolences. If not true, my condolences to fans who saw Sands under perform...

Mcfadden’s Money: Big Bucks no Whammies

Posted 05-27-2008 at 09:50 PM by Mykle VanHausen
At least thats what Raider fans expect and hope.

Record setting contracts are being bandied about this off season in a League experiencing unprecedented growth and popularity. What can this mean for Oaklands fast and sometimes controversial new running back?

On Tuesday Dallas owner Jerry Jones finalized a deal with RB Marion Barber worth $45 million over 7 years with $16 million in guarantees and bonuses.

Its worth $21 million over the over the first...

I know I said I was going to post my Q&A with the Chiefs fan I interviewed and believe me I will soon but basically I didn't want to post rival interviews back to back like that but I will continue to interview rival fans though to get in their head and get their true feelings even though some answers maybe bias cause its their opinion but thats all I'm asking for. So I'm going to cool you down with a Colts fan point of view on the Oakland Raiders...

Jason Taylor: Raider or Rival?

Posted 05-24-2008 at 01:59 AM by Mykle VanHausen
Taylor has been linked to the Oakland Raiders, who would certainly welcome a book end for Burgess, but after a massive off season spending spree by Al Davis, the Raiders may be a little short in the pocket, especially considering they’ve yet to ink their 4th overall 2008 1st round draft pick RB Darren McFadden.

Though they haven’t been mentioned together, its my opinion the division rival Chiefs could make a home for the beleaguered DE.

Despite trading away the leagues...

Big Questions and alot to prove in 08’

Posted 05-22-2008 at 10:48 PM by Mykle VanHausen
Orig. posting, Thursday, May 08, 2008

Lotta guys with things to prove this year.

Burgess can use this year to leverage for an 09' contract year.

If he stays healthy, expect maximum effort.

Aso may be the highest paid corner in the history of the League if he goes Pro Bowl this year.

Whether the check is cashed in Oakland is another matter.

Whispers of Woodsen float around the forums.

The wizardry of Walsh = Wins in 08'?

Posted 05-22-2008 at 10:36 PM by Mykle VanHausen
Orig. posted May, 12th, 2008

Though Al Davis left the team in April of 1966 to become Commissioner of the American Football Conference, he still held enough sway to convince a Raider assistant from that era to stop by for a chat with Lane Kiffin, his new Coach.

That man, was Bill Walsh. Though he hated the term and never used it by some accounts, is widely credited with bringing to preeminence what we know today as "the West Coast Offense".

Davis’ gambit: Is this D scheme a radical wrinkle or lunacy?

Posted 05-22-2008 at 10:02 PM by Mykle VanHausen
Orig. posted May 14

It no secret we have been one of the worst run defenses in the League for some time now.

With the lack of new blood on the D line is there any hope for the future?

Ryan will be the man in charge again this year barring the unforseen, and with new help at Safety will Al Davis' "built backwards" defense have a chance?

The simple answer is "yes", but not because of defensive additions, because of offensive...

New rules and the Raiders: How might these changes affect them in 08'?

Posted 05-22-2008 at 09:49 PM by Mykle VanHausen
How might the new rules implemented in 08' affect Oakland?

At the 2008 NFL annual meeting in Palm Beach Florida several rules were changed, some added and some ignored.

Of the ones passed there are several that could directly affect the Oakland Raiders chances in the season to come.

1. Defensive com gear

For years offenses have enjoyed (and abused) radio head sets in selected players helmets to communicate with the side lines.
