Peyton Manning working to find right wa

I hope Coach and Company are paying attention to the competition's tape as well...

Peyton Manning working to find right way - AFC West Blog - ESPN

I talked to Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. and he said he too has noticed that Manning seems more comfortable throwing to his left. I asked if he thinks opposing defenses can close up that side of the field and force Manning to throw to his right on a regular basis during the season.

Williamson said it could be an issue for Denver, but because Manning’s game is predicated on adjustments and on the mental side of the game, he will work through the issues.
As I've been saying all off season, I think Manning will be okay but will wear down over the season as he is hit and hit hard. If he's really weaker on the right side of the field, Ds will be able to load the left a bit more; and while his ongoing rehab may improve his throwing to the right, I can't imagine getting hit (like he's likely to be hit with the questionable offensive line of Denver) will help.

Load on the left, shut down the run, hit him when he passes. Not to knock him out of the game or league, but to put him on the ground. The little hits will add up even more than normal, IMHO.

Here's a FANTASTIC write-up on how Manning works, and thoughts on how to beat him...

What Peyton Manning is doing (and how to beat him) | Blue Sunday

Now, he doesn't have the same weapons he had in 2010, but it's still likely a good reference when game planning against the Donkeys.

One of the things that stands out to me is don't blitz - it's the kiss of death. This flies in the face of our new approach (seemingly). If true and we need to get at him with four down linemen, it may be even more reason to go after an Andre Carter type, who - huh - played for the Patriots who - huh - had some success against Manning.

Now, I'm no expert at all... but I'm hoping those who are study these types of things and can game plan, take advantage of some weaknesses in the aging super star, and by all means the quarterback must go down.

Open for conversation... how would you beat Peyton Manning?

    Ayso is a .sig genius!!

I'm really interested in seeing just how healthy Manning is. Like you said, those hits add up. If Denver loses him, their season will most likely be pretty bad.

He threw some picks in that last game against Seattle. I finally got to watch it tonight. But overall, he looked like he's going to be ready to play when it matters. He's definately lost some velocity and the timing with all of his receivers isn't there yet, but any hope of him completely tanking is probably misguided.

I wouldn't not blitz him but I would be judicious with it. By that I mean that it would have to be only in very specific situations where we could afford to give up some yardage if the blitzer(s) didn't get there in time. Something like a 3rd and 12+ where he could hit a safety valve but not get the first down.

If our d-line stays healthy we should be able to get some pressure on him without blitzing, along with using a big nickel set most of the time. We have the personnel for it.

We'll see them for the first time in week four so hopefully the book won't be out on our D just yet. That's an advantage that should help us in the first few games. It ain't the same old Raider D everyone knows and loves to play against; so in some ways, other teams will be starting from scratch in terms of analyzing what we do on D.

At any rate, the dude is still going to be tough to defend against.
