Injuries are part of the game. No one likes to see them happen. Coaches, players, or fans. However, no one should feel sorry for teams whose players suffer injuries. Next guy needs to step up and do the job. No excuses. It's professional football.

You have to take into account that he is a RB as well. He is going to need to lower his shoulder multiple times a game, his recently broken shoulder (clavicle).

Thats a good point... And probably significantly increases his chance at re-injuring it

Dam straight. Lets see how good the Chargers really are, last time i checked a team is made up of more than just starters.

He should only play a series or two though. Save him for games that matter and let our backups get comfortable.

Most of a time a broken clavicle takes 10-12 weeks to heal fully this guy is getting hit by NFL players I would say he misses the first four games

Wasn't this the exact same injury Jason Campbell suffered last year at the hands of Fujita?

Really? Honestly if a guy can't make it through one series of a preseason game may as well put him in a protective bubble. It's a violent game and guys get injured. If McFadden can't make it through a few carries in a preseason game it's probably best to know now to get the phone lines open to Benson's agent. Now I'm not saying that the team needs to feed McFadden lots of carries in preseason but you can't walk around eggshells with your football players. If you don't think the focal player of your offense isn't up to the task of making it through a couple of series in the preseason then I would have serious issues with the coaching and management of the team.

As far as Matthews goes this is a tough injury for a RB that takes constant punishment and like McFadden he's a focal point of that offense. Tough break for the Chargers but there won't be any tears from me as that's football and I hope for an 0-16 season for Rivers and company.
