4 Saints Players Suspended

Four Saints players have been suspended over the bounty scandal:
Jonathon Vilma - entire 2012 season
Anthony Hargrove - 8 games
Will Smith - 4 games
Scott Fujita (now with the Browns) - 3 games

I just saw that a few minutes ago on BSPN. Shocking! The commissioner OWES it to the media and the fans the SPECIFIC REASONS why these guys were suspended. A full season? Weren't they simply following Greg Williams?

im not saying fujita is a great player but it sucks that the browns are being punished for what the saints did...

Goodell has said he believes players were not just participants at the behest of Williams, but were actively encouraging and celebrating the bounties.

"In assessing player discipline," Commissioner Goodell said, "I focused on players who were in leadership positions at the Saints; contributed a particularly large sum of money toward the program; specifically contributed to a bounty on an opposing player; demonstrated a clear intent to participate in a program that potentially injured opposing players; sought rewards for doing so; and/or obstructed the 2010 investigation."

Id be interested to see what the evidence is, the Saints didn't have the most penalties, didn't injure the most players and didn't have the most players who were fined for dirty play, so i don't see how this is for what happened on the field, it must be something behind the scenes or Godell trying to make an example out of them.

Surely someone somewhere has compiled video for these guys? I mean, if one of them warrants a full year suspension, there must be some tape justifying it?

I think there was plenty of video shown of Hargrove going after Favre in that Championship game. Seem to remember plenty of video of Vilma as well.

Remember though, this is not for just what happened on the field, it was for contributing funds and encouraging others. The NFL has sent a list to the NFLPA of the other players involved.

QBs get sacked and hit all the time, but players don't usually get suspended for it.
Should the Saints have not tried to pressure and hit Favre in that playoff game?

Yeah. I'm to believe these testosterone dudes were cowed by Greg Williams. Nah they cared more about themselves and were active in perpertrating this. They should get what was coming to them. You don't want to get suspended. Don't be involved in that mess.

Goodell is a coward and is ruining this league, another move that makes no sense to me. Why suspend players who are now on different teams..FINE THEM, hit them where it hurts but NOOO commish is still concerned with keeping up his safety image with all these new mainstream fans that don't know dick about football at the expense of true NFL fans...

Gutless?!?!? These guys lied to the league investigators, broke salary cap rules, develop, encouraged, and followed a program that was designed to intentionally hurt players??? And Goodell is gutless? These players are gutless cowards if anything. Goodell is just trying to restore some validity to the NFL.
