I have no problem with players being suspended but not but one man acting as judge and juror. Makes him look like a dictator. I believe the proper way would have been in front of a committee or panel of peers making it more of a democratic system which this ruling was not

sorry about the rant, just REALLY not a fan of this gutless prick
First off, I do not like Goodall either, and neither what his is dong.

That said, in this instance, I agree with these suspensions. Regardless whether the players are on other teams, same as coaches, an example needs to be set. The players suspended were not just suspended for their actions on the field. It is what the incited off the field. I have not seen the full report but these 4 seem to have been "ratted out" by their team mates.

A total list of players involved has been sent to the NFLPA by the NFL. I have that list and their are some 'sqeaky clean' players on it. I cannot comment on those players but they will go under warning by the NFLPA.

It is very scary what wa going on there. The media is watering it down a lot (why?). If it were the Raiders we would be crucified? I know why but I cannot tell you. In this mdia dominated world with sponsors and markets, I will let you all make your minds up.

However, look at events that have happened in the USA. Look at teams that have just built stadiums. Look at how soon they won SuperBowls. It happened as recently as this year with the Giants winning for the scond time since the stadium deal was done (both times were they a "good" team). Look at the last 11 years. 9/11 happens and "The Patriots" come from no where and start winning SuperBowls. To re-inforce them, "The Steerlers" are the other dominant team (didn't they upgrade their stadium). The Buccaneers won the SuperBowl after upgrading theirs. Packers upgrade thier stadium and win. Then comes Hurricane Katrina, and within a few years the New Orleans Saints win a SuperBowl.

You look at the SuperBowl and Championship teams and ALL of them either relate to world events or have new stadiums. Now, I don't want to sound cynical but similar lines have been drawn in the English Premier League not so long ago when Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea won titles after bulding new stadiums or getting significant funding for upgrading theirs. In Australia, there is a significant link with teams winning the title and their upgrade of grounds. St. George, Canterbury, Melbourne, Brisbane.....

It is a common thread through sports. Don't think for one minute the NFL is immune.

JC should have slid, but I understand he was trying to make a play. He was always a gamer. Of course I do agree that Fujita didn't need to do a belly flop on Jason.

I agree with almost everything here and it certainly sounds like you have sources and know more than I do. I just feel Goodell could at least stand up for tradition ((((I don't know if they credit him with helping keep the Vikings in Minnesota but I believe he would send them to LA in a heartbeat if it meant more $$ and brought in more halfass clueless fans, throwing away a great Minnesota-Viking tradition/connection..this is just an example)))) even though I know $ is power and all but I just believe he is changing the game to a point where it will seem like arena league soon and he could'nt care less so long as more people watch.

I don't think it's coincidence you see 'old-school' teams and players bashing goodell, my main issue is these guys get PAIDDDD and with all that $ comes the risk of injury or worse, but they understand this which is why they get paid more than doctors teachers fireman etc...So I am all for keeping it gladiator style to an extent.

It's rare to see somebody else that admits world events have shaped certain superbowls, I agree 100%! I can never say if it weren't for 9/11 the Raiders and probably Colts would have a SB and Bucs/Patriots would have none. Anytime I bring that up people take it as un-American and miss the point.

As for EPL I have no clue about that but it's interesting. Appreciate your feedback man!

And yeah 'Gutless' is a little harsh

Sidenote: Very surprised Will Smith wasn't suspended for more games, he is very dirty and has been in trouble for PEDs....?

It is a very scary thing raising who wins what and I have been slated by raising it previously.

The whole, Patriots winning after 9/11 seems reasonable to people in the USA, and I understand completely. But to the rest of the world it is ironic, cynical, and staged. Especially seeing they were found guily of cheating lateron.

I agree with eerything you say and have always thought the same thing about the relation between 9/11 and the patriots. But the one that withstands all things is the TRUTH.and the truth is slowly coming out. we have learned about spygate and now bountygate... you can't hide all the crap under the rug, sooner or later someone is gonna talk.

also we as fans sometimes fail to see that this is not a "sport" like we used to play as kids when we did it for fun and for the love of the game. this is a BILLION dollar industry, and there are a lot of interests at stake.

My point was about full disclosure. When you have one man serve as judge, jury, executioner, and the appellate court, transparency should be placed in the forefront. Other than the Greg Williams audio tape, what physical evidence has actually been disclosed that hasn't come from "undisclosed sources?" I'm not defending the Saints. On the contrary, I'm disgusted at what the entire scandal represents. I'm just more concerned about a commissioner who can do what he wants and is more concerned about someone lying to him than another player actually doing what he accuses them of. Player safety? Then why is he wanting an 18 game regular season?

Goodell isn't a dictator... He doesn't make all the decisions. Im sure he has a committee that discusses these topics... They are harsh yes. But I bet you it will not happen again. Kudos go out to Goodell for protecting the game of football and the nfl's name and demeanor. An 18 game year will be fine if everyone is playing football for their city, team, and fans. Not playin for extra cash to injure someone. These guys should be arrested for fraud because I guarantee you none of these players paid taxes for that extra money. Goodells rulings are rational in my opinion.

Why would someone lie if they have nothing to hide???

as far as an 18 game season well theres nothing wrong with the idea, however a lot of things have to be cleared up before it happens.

also I just want to say that I am not a Goodell supporter but I think he hit this one right on the button, and if he has the power to unilaterally punish these players it is because he was named the Comissioner and at some point the owners or someone sat down and gave that power to whoever held that post. I am not saying I agree with it.

Thought that there would be more than four players suspended. But you never know about Goodell and his mind these days, now do you?!

THIS!! Not to sound unpatriotic but the Red White and Blue, last game at their field, the colonial militia men firing their fake guns...it was all so clear. They wanted a feel-good story and it's as if they forgot that the RAIDERS ARE AMERICANS TOO, but we wear black and have a bad rep so we were expendable..... #stillbitter....but im glad that these things are slowly coming out and being exposed
