He missed the 2nd kick because of the high snap
Just curious if these thoughts hit anyone else...
When the Giants missed a field goal, cameras showed Coughlin (sp?) yelling at his kicker. Doesn't he know/care that kickers have fragile confidence? I thought that was stupid.
Was it any coincidence he missed another kick???
Also, at the very end of regulation the Giants had the ball at about the 20 with time left on the clock. They let the clock run down and then kicked the field goal (which they missed, causing overtime).
If I was the coach, I would have thrown at least ONE pass into the end zone before kicking. They had time. Can't remember if they had a time out left or not, but it so, they could have thrown something over the middle.
In those conditions one more play would have been good idea BEFORE kicking.
I'm guessing that if the Giants had lost these questions would be asked today!
He missed the 2nd kick because of the high snap
Drama........it's the lifeblood of those without a life.
RASPBERRY!!!
i guess?
Right now there are 30 teams who feel more stupid than the Giants do right about now.
Coughlin is an old school drill instructor type coach. He will never change.

Yeah, Parcells has done it, many greta coaches have ripped kickers. There is no one way how to treat kickers and say, "this is how you do it so they can be confident or productive..."
From case to case, it varies. Just like there isnt one way to groom a QB, the same way there isnt an exact science for the NFL draft, nor an exact science on how to build a team.
He missed the 2nd on a bad snap and nailed the long one in OT.Whatever he is doing he is doing it well.He knows his players and its not like he is a rookie
The game itself exposes fragile egos, and good players will be strong regardless what their HC's are like.
Tynes bounced back well to nail the winner and will no doubt be eating up the practice field without a chip on his shoulder.

Practice?
They had no timeouts remaining, they only needed a FG to win, and they were well within makeable range. The biggest mistake in the history of the playoffs would've been if they had run a play and been unable to get the clock stopped to kick it. A throw to the endzone is a ver low percentage play and not worth the risk. They did the right thing, and a high snap affected the kick.
Their in the SuperBowl, so any "stupid" calls or decisions have to be dismissed now. They're going for all the marbles and looking ahead.
What I want to know is why McCarthy didn't freeze Tynes when he was going for the game-winning FG in overtime.
i belive they did have a ime out left and they called it with 4 seconds remaining.... i woulda ran another playmyself.. not a pass to the endzone but a run play probally just a rush up the midlde with jacobs.. 2 or 3 yards is good enough i woulda played for the fg also... didnt the raiders beat the browns in a playoff game because they went for one last shot at the endzone?
