    Fort Hill Sentinels

My sons' team just advanced to the Maryland 1A State Championship game to be played next Saturday @ Noon in Baltimore.

This team had many doubters when the season began and most of the so-called experts had us finishing 5-5 or 6-4 at best.

But with one week left to play we are one of the eight teams left practicing, (Maryland has 4 class rankings).

Here's a link to the team site:

Well, we went into M&T Bank Stadium a four TD underdog against a team loaded with FBS prospects and ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard 20-19.

Dunbar-Baltimore scored the game-winning TD with 0:02 left on the clock.

I have never seen a more dejected group of kids in my life as I did today.

My son told me that he would've rather lost by 50 than to lose in the final seconds by 1 point.

They left it all on the field today and have nothing to be ashamed of.

I am proud of that team also. And they should be proud of themselves. Plus it's way more than we have gotten out of the Raiders in 6 years.
Drama........it's the lifeblood of those without a life.

Congrats on a good season. My son's team is in the Kentucky state championship for the second year in a row, looking for a repeat of last years victory (oddly enough, against the same team).

    What year/position is your son?

    Later.

    OT/DT

    He's 6'2"/255 lbs

Here's a good one for you.

In the last three seasons the team we lost to today has won the MD 1A title each season.

Each of those three seasons they have played either my sons team or their rival team from Cumberland, (Fort Hill 2006,08 Allegany 2007).

Now Cumberland is a small town in Western Maryland with a population of about 21,000 people, while Baltimore has a population of about 665,000 people.

    He's only a Junior also.

He started this season at 6'-0" even but grew 2 inches during the season.

He's hoping that trend carries on during the offseason and next year.

I'm 6'-6" and he keeps saying that he will look me in the eye one day.
