Well, last season, some of you may remember that my son's team won the 2A Kentucky State Championship. He was a freshman that year and has since undergone some knee surgery to repair a damaged knee cap.
Well, the regular season started two weeks ago, and he was cleared to play one quarter per game to ease back into playing.
They won the first game of the season by a score of 50-7 and they won their second game 41-6. I get to listen to the games on the internet through a local radio station that covers them and I was able to hear my son's number and name called out as he recovered a fumble in last night's game.
Later.
^Yes, very!
Well, I stand corrected.....I spoke with my son on the phone a few minutes ago, and he told me that he CAUSED the fumble. Still proud though!
Later.
Well, they played thier first district game last night. They won 70-16. It was a very exciting game to listen to......I can't wait to get home on leave and see a game.
Later.
Thats Awesome Bill!!!
Your son is a large kid!!
I would be scared if he was coming at me and I was holding the football.!
Good story though man.. glad you get to hear his number being called...
Thank God for the Internet.
Go Raiders.
Cool...
Future Raider???
or maybe Buckeye first???

Go Raiders.
They've since improved to 7-0! Rollin' right along with a win on Friday 42-0. As of today, they've outscored their opponents 368-49 in those seven games. They're on a bye week this coming Friday.
Later.
Well, the Fort Campbell Falcons finished the regular season 9-1. I was home for two of those games and was able to enjoy some good high school quality football without even thinking of the utter mess in Oakland. What a joy.
They played thier first game of the 2008 Kentucky Playoffs on Friday night, and came away victorious 71-14. From what my wife said, my son played well, and the whole team is looking forward to next week now to continue thier quest for a second straight state title.
Later.
On a side note, I'll be posting more information on my son's team during the playoffs, since they're actually playing better football (for their level) than the Raiders are right now.
Later.
Well, since it's clearly the only football that matters (to me anyhow), here's an update on the Falcons.
They played Murray High School (8-3) and rolled over them 47-0 for the win in the second round of the playoffs. This was supposed to be more of a challenge for the team than what the score shows........that challenge will come next week when they play Owensboro Catholic.
Since I listen to the game on the internet while I'm over here, it was really good to hear my son's number/name called a few times on the defensive side of the ball.
Later.
cool deal man... keep us posted.
Go Raiders.
Wow, Bill, your son's team is a scoring machine. Those are like lopsided basketball scores.
Congrats to you and your son. Glad you have been able to keep up with the team on the marvelous new invention, the "internets."
Been to Mt. Everest lately?
Jeff
