It isn't that simple though. As somebody else mentioned, if a long term contract is not reached by July 15th or 16th (can't remember exactly which day it is) then a long term contract cannot be signed until after the coming season. He can only play under the one year franchise tender. So the Raiders have roughly 2 weeks to extend Asomugha or they will have to wait until after the season at which point his value could go up even more.
