The fact is we have a bunch of questionmarks and most playoff teams don't have those questions at the start of the season. There is usually a sleeper team like the Browns and there are always disappointments like the Rams. But usually there are more letdowns than there are surprises. Everyone wants to be that cinderella team but that isn't likely.
Why can't people just be realistic and settle for steady improvement? 6 wins would be a decent start considering we haven't won that many in any of the last 5 years. 7 wins would be a successful season in my eyes.
These players we have that people consider superstars like
Thomas Howard,
Justin Fargas, and
Tommy Kelly are abundant on other teams. They are just good players. Unfortuneately, our perception has been blurred by all the losing. Either that or some people are just ignorant.
I can make a list for every other team in the league why they will be successful this year and make a playoff or superbowl run. That doesn't mean it will happen. There are only 12 playoff teams per year. 10 teams per conference wont make it. Sadly, we will most likely be one team that misses out, but if we show some improvement this year maybe we can make a run in 2009. Jmho.
