this is an extremely underrated rivalry which should be arguably the best in sports (not just NFL) but never seems to be mentioned even in NFL terms with the Cowboys Skins, Packers bears etc
They held a massive streak of 9 games of 7 points or less in 8 of those and with the Raiders finally beating them it is only going to get more fierce, the constant history of players and coach swappings
Chiefs are the only team in the NFL with a winning record against the Raiders (with 10 or more contests
we thank them for Rich Gannon and they thank us for Marcus Allen after the Davis feud
Tom Flores was a back up QB in KC then came HC of Oakland winning 2 superbowls
"Those were my favorite games...I always likened them to a heavyweight fight. You knew you were going to get beat up, but it was fun. We needed the Chiefs. We wouldn't have been as good without them." — Ben Davidson, former Raiders defensive end."
"In Oakland...the games you always really wanted to come see were the Niners and the Chiefs. You grew up hating red...It goes deep. It's not just the teams. It's the organizations, you know, which organization is better? These are two teams that played in the old AFL against each other. Most of the history goes back to it. They've been AFC West rivals for a very, very long time. It's always been the must-win game." — Kirk Morrison,"
Broncos is a huge rivalry and the Chargers are a more contemporary heated battle but NOTHING and i mean NOTHING compares to the Chiefs when everything is considered
I HATE the chiefs but respect them more then any other team

Very good post.
I think people are letting their personal feelings for other teams and fans get in the way of the true topic, which is: what team
IS the Raiders biggest rival. History says it is the Chiefs... for the reasons you posted.
Personally, I still look at the Steelers as a rival. I was a teen in the 70's and I remember those games as nothing short of epic battles. We are dead even in the series at 49 wins each, I think.
