Ricky Brown was kickin before the injury. He had some serious sideline to sideline speed and could follow runners in traffic.

Ekejiuba is a solid ST and good LB depth.

Bing - I'd keep around to see more of his skill sets and potential.

Miller is a solid TE. When Maryland needed a blocker, he was the one, not Vernon Davis. He was great in short yardage situations in run blocking or a change up to pass (has good hands).

If you want to see how well the development of these projects is coming along, just see how often they are on the field! that will give you your best determination how far along they are. If they never see the field chances are they haven't quite measured up!
"You can't Appoint, Hire, or Declare Leadership" ~ Sonny Barger

"Al Davis thought all owners were dilettantes with a new toy. He said to me many times through the years that owners are often the problem with their franchises, that too many of them think they can run things when they cannot, and the teams that succeed are the ones where the owner hires the best people he can and turns the game over to them."

In financial terms Gallery is a sunk cost

If we applied strict financial terms to football players - the position that they were drafted, the money they have already been paid would be termed a sunk cost.

Football is not quite the same because the capital expedniture is spread out to future years which makes cutting a player an expensive future proposition.

But if Gallery does not show progress this year then you have label the guy a bust and think about trading or releasing him.

There should be no excuses for him this year.

What if he looks great in camp then gets a bad injury?

It would be worth at least resigning him for less if he shows some potential.

LB spots should be hotly contested outside of Howard and Morrison.

What are the chances Kiffin puts Bing back at SS?

That's a good question on Bing. I still don't see him as a quality SS in the NFL though. His lack of deep cover ability and getting lost in open space doesn't bode well for a SS. Plus, Huff did his thing a year ago limiting TEs in man coverage and made a few plays around the LOS. IMO, Bing would be better used closer to the LOS and let him do what he does best. He is fierce at attacking the LOS and hitting people. Going man or reading/reacting in deep zone aren't strengths for him but we will see.

The same Tommy Kelly that Bill Belicheck once said was our best Dline player?
Couldn't be, but I will say, he's a much more effective DE, than DT.

    That's what I was thinking.

Hey Neo, didn't we get into up in the Premium forum regarding Kelly as a DE vs a DT last summer?

    Update:

    28 Rashad Baker DB 5-10 200 26 5 Tennessee Camden, NJ
    35 John Bowie CB 5-11 190 23 2 Cincinnati Columbus, OH
    37 Chris Johnson CB 6-1 200 28 5 Louisville Longview, TX
    31 Hiram Eugene FS 6-2 200 27 3 Louisiana Tech Jeanerette, LA

    70 Jesse Boone C 6-5 300 26 1 Utah Fillmore, Utah
    75 Mario Henderson T 6-7 300 23 2 Florida State Lehigh Acres, FL
    51 Chris Morris C 6-4 305 25 3 Michigan State Lambertville, MI
    78 Jonathan Palmer T 6-5 335 24 2 Auburn
    72 Seth Wand T 6-7 330 28 6 N.W. Missouri State Springfield, MO
    63 Mark Wilson T 6-7 320 27 3 California

    57 Ricky Brown LB 6-2 235 24 3 Boston College Cincinnati

    - Will Buchanon WR 6-3 190 24 2 USC Oceanside, CA
    15 Johnnie Lee Higgins WR 5-11 185 24 2 UTEP Sweeny, TX
    18 Jonathan Holland WR 6-1 195 23 1 Louisiana Tech Archibald, LA
    13 Drisan James WR 5-11 185 23 1 Boise State
    14 Chris McFoy WR 6-1 200 24 2 USC Chino, CA
    - Todd Watkins WR 6-2 190 24 1 BYU San Diego, CA

    47 Fred Wakefield TE 6-7 295 29 8 Illinois Tuscola, IL

    29 Michael Bush RB 6-1 245 23 1 Louisville Louisville, KY
    38 Adimchinobe Echemandu RB 5-10 225 27 4 California Hawthorne, CA
42 ReShard Lee RB 5-10 220 27 5 Middle Tennessee State Brunswick, GA

    59 Jon Condo LS 6-3 250 26 2 Maryland Philipsburg, PA

95 Josh Shaw DT 6-3 305 28 5 Michigan State Fort Lauderdale, FL

The success of the wide receivers could be quite important here. If we could just get one out of McFoy, Watkins, Buchanon, James, Holland and Higgins to come through and be productive we'll have done a good job. I'm quite optomistic that we'll get at least one, maybe two from that group.

Imo Madsen who was on the original list I posted, can be a decent receiver for us more regularly too...with Wakefield coming back to take his place as a TE.

Josh Shaw and Chris Morris are players some people have said could come through this season. Reshard Lee kind of impressed me when he had a few games in 06, good hands out of the backfield, Echemandu obviously had a very good preseason and seemed a good system fit too.

    James Adkisson
    Ricky Brown
    Will Buchanon
    Adimchinobe Echamandu
    Isaiah Ekejiuba
    Hiram Eugene
    Anttaj Hawthorne
    Kevin Huntley
    Reshard Lee
    John Madsen
    Paul McQuistan
    Derek Miller
    Johnnie Morant
    Chris Morris
I think we can say we did good jobs with Ekejiuba, Madsen and McQuistan to make them contributors, at least on ST's. Failed with Hawthorne, Huntley and Adkisson.

Man, that is a trailer full of garbage on that list right there...potential ususally means you're no good..

I do, however expect great things from Michael Bush..The only HALF he played in his Senior Year, the guy had like a hundred something yards and 3 TD's...

    83 Will Buchanon WR 6-3 190 25 2 USC

I expect Tyvon Branch won't have a great deal of trouble making the team, but who emerges from this bunch of Receivers should be interesting...presumably there will be 3 slots available after Walker, Curry and Carter.
