Rumor time... FA time... draft time... the horrible fun we have after each season.
I think it's obvious we need a GM to help out this team but ummm... we know who our GM is no matter what bs they try to sell us.
This guy is the proto typical coordinator who will NEVER cut it as a HC. He's smart but will get run over like a freight train in the locker room. He has bounced around as OC. His teams do a decent job,but he never sticks anywhere too long. The fact that the Giants have posted two consecutive winning seasons in a row is not directly related to Gilbride.
I like Cable and after two wins in a row, its hard not to get a little excited that maybe we can turn the corner. That being said, he deserves a shot. The only way I dont go with Cable is if we do the following:
- Al ACTUALLY HIRES A GM. If so, let him choose the coach.
- There is a legitmate coach who would come here (Cowher), but not likely.
The two most important people on this staff next year are the OC and the DC. not th head coach. If we can give Cable a bonafide OC, he'd do a nice job as HC.
I love Robe Ryan, but his run defenses have stunk for years. We need a new DC.
This is the worst hire we could do. So it's probabaly the guy we're gonna be stuck with. Guess we get to play the "who's gonna be our new coach" game again next offseason.
if we get a GM then I am down for trying cable out...especially if ryan is fired and we get a kick ass OC
Before you challenge the Raider Fans to sell out the Colisseum or say the locals don't support the team Please Read Raider187's extremely informative post: http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/oakl...ance-woes.html
I forgot another name who might be a candidate to watch, especially if he becomes available next week, that is Todd Haley of the Cardinals. Haley is the offensive coordinator of the Cardinals and is a young, vertical offense proponent, discipline oriented coach that might appeal to Al Davis. He might be Cable's greatest challenge to the head coaching position.
