Kiffin kind of got me excited until Al pulled out the rug from under him when he tried to fire Ryan. Since then the circus regained momentum and here we are. We have an interim coach with a team of youth and talent mixed with a high dollar no-show in Walker and some schollarship players that need to go. I don't know which way is up with our team anymore. This crap about Russell being a bust is premature BS. He needs a chance to play behind a decent line and have some receivers that give a sh!t and want to win to throw to. The line is improved but not near good enough yet. Our RB's and TE are the only bright spots on our offense. Our D was looking good early but the absence of Burgess last week exposed Ryan's inability to make adjustments when one of your key players go down. He should have installed multiple looks, blitzes, and stunts to throw off the O because we all know that our front 4 wasn't getting any type of pressure on Brees without D Burg out there. Until Al steps back, hires a GM, gets a stable coaching staff in place the the players can believe in and get accustomed to, we will be in the same boat. It is what it is folks, A SH!T SANDWHICH. We either eat it and deal with it, or throw it in the trash and back another team. I will eat the damn sandwhich and wait for this team to regain its past glory. Until then we just have to hang on and hope for change. With that being said, I hope Walker and Curry get benched. I never in my wildest dreams expected to say that about Curry. He's been a gamer for so long and now has disappeared. It's time to give our young guys, with Higgins leading the group, a shot at making some plays for our team. It's sad but Detroit just laughed at our trade offer and ended up doing business with Dallas with the Roy Williams trade. That would have been a great help to our WR corp but now we are left searching for other alternatives. We will have to predicate the O on run first until we fix our WR issues. No one can expect Russell to imrpove under these conditions. All you Ryan sack riders need to can it. You put that rookie in this situation and he would struggle too. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. GO RAIDERS!!!

good postbro, Agreed, the org needs to modernize and change before we see anything different on the field.

He's the #1 draft overall. He wanted big time money and wouldn't settle for less. Now live up to your money.
Matt ryans situation is a whole lot better then Russel's right now. That's obvious, better o-line, better wr's,and more stable organization. You see any falcon employees going kimbo slice on a reporter recently.Matt Ryan got paid more than jamarcus and he is the third pick of the draft.Arthur blank would have gotten Jamarcus signed early, oh wait, the GM would have gotten him signed. Both teams picked up O-line help in the same draft but the Falcons got a starting rookie LT in Sam Baker and we got Super Mario. The falcons do have to high draft picks invested at both wide receiver positions in White and Jenkins that can GET OPEN.I have not watched a falcons game yet but I wouldn't be surprised to see some obvious holding calls go uncalled. The NFL would love to have another golden boy QB to be the face of the league. You think anyone outside of the nation wants Jamarcus to succeed.Russell has got alot to overcome and he will. It's not how you start it's how you finish.JAmarcus can ball period.

Firstly, does it matter whether it was Kiffin or Davis who wanted / wanted to keep Walker. He is here, and we are going to have to live with that now.

I personally would start Higgins & Schilens (one quick and nippy the other big and strong), its a good partnership, both have proven this season so far in their limited snaps that they can catch the ball. Schilens is probably more of a possession WR, while Higgins has more home-run potential. I would then have Watkins as #3, dress Curry and Walker and let them be the water boys. This might dent their pride a little and give them a little fire in their belly again.

As for Lelie, he shouldn't even get dressed. So far this season, he has been targeted 26 times and has only caught 6 balls - that is shocking! Against NO, he was targeted 8 times and caught 1 ball for 11 yards. He just doesn't cop the same criticism because he isn't paid as much as Walker & Curry, but this guy is poor. I appreciate that some of it is Russell's rookie mistakes, but that is the same for all our WRs, not just Lelie.

As for Russell, c'mon Nation, we gotta give the boy a chance. I said this in another thread, but go back and look at Peyton Manning's stats in his rookie year, and you will see that they are not too dissimilar to Russell's stats so far this year - Manning won 3 games out of 16, had 3 games where his completion rate was under 50% and finished the season with a completion rate in the mid-50s and a QB rating of 71.2, but he had more picks than TDs.

This is not concrete proof that JRuss will be the next Peyton Manning, but it is proof that not all of the greats start well at QB.
