    Al Davis exec-candidate, Tom Gamble?

    Didn't see it posted...

49ers pro personnel director Tom Gamble might be the secret Al Davis exec-candidate

Well, not that secret. Last winter, there were scattered reports that Al Davis was close to importing 49ers pro personnel director Tom Gamble to the East Bay to beef up the Raiders’ bare-bones football operations.

Then there was a last rumor that the deal fell through when Al refused to give Gamble a contract–preferring to do it the Raider way of “come here and I’ll take care of you, no signatures necessary.”
    Here is his profile

    More on Raiders & Gamble...

    Link

The NFL Network is reporting Rich Snead has been hired by the Raiders pro personnel department, which has essentially been left barren since the departures of Sean Jones, and most recently, Mike Lombardi and Ed Dodds.
The Raiders made a run at 49ers pro personnel director Tom Gamble, according to two sources, but Profootballtalk.com is reporting the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement.
Gamble is well thought of by the 49ers and could stand his ground with regard to compensation. Snead, on the other hand, was seemingly on the way out after his contract expired.

Man we can't run a team this way. "Just come here and I'll take care of you, no contracts necessary." Seriously, WTF???!?!?!!?? How can you attract solid football people by telling them they can't have a contract and could be fired without pay at any second? Wow.

I think he has conceded recently that his antics SUCK. I hope he lets whomever he gets in here (hopefully Gamble this offseason) to run this ship. We shall see...

Even if all he does is act as a buffer between Al and the coach, it is worth it. But who wants that jobs?

Even hiring someone will not mean he'll let them run the show. Besides, who would WANT to run the show without a contract, and knowing they could be fired at any second and not get paid. But this is how things work in Raiderland.

"You can't Appoint, Hire, or Declare Leadership" ~ Sonny Barger

"Al Davis thought all owners were dilettantes with a new toy. He said to me many times through the years that owners are often the problem with their franchises, that too many of them think they can run things when they cannot, and the teams that succeed are the ones where the owner hires the best people he can and turns the game over to them."
