Harris-for-Sims a good `trade’? - Inside The Oakland Raiders - A look inside the world of the highly classified Oakland Raiders from the writers of ANG Newspapers
Not a lot of meat, but I think he asks the right question. Is this a good trade for us? I think so. We're no worse off with Harris, and potentially better if Cable can work some magic with pass protection. The natural question is who is a better fit for their new team, Harris with the Raiders or Sims with the 49ers?
...
Sims was, at worst, a serviceable starter for years with the Raiders. Some might say he was a solid starter _ those might be the ones who choose to ignore Sims’ meeting with Simeon Rice in San Diego.
...
Harris, who showed flashes early in his 49ers career, had become a frequent target of disgruntled 49ers fans after some unbelievably poor performances. It is hoped that Harris’ fortunes will improve under Cable’s system. Harris has been given the chance to become JaMarcus Russell’s MIP (Most Important Protector) as the Raiders’ starting left tackle.

"Al Davis thought all owners were dilettantes with a new toy. He said to me many times through the years that owners are often the problem with their franchises, that too many of them think they can run things when they cannot, and the teams that succeed are the ones where the owner hires the best people he can and turns the game over to them."

I'm sure that we are paying Harris alot more than the 49ers are paying Sims - so it's not an even trade; the Raiders are taking more risk. I have alot of confidence in Tom Cable, but Harris needs to get way better at pass blocking. Hopefully this will pay off - but only time will tell.

I have confidence in Cable We all seen our O-Line last season it wasnt bad we ran the ball good, Hell Even Gallery Was lookin good, So i think K.Harris Will do good for us this season
Sims is on the down slide, his best years are behind him.
Even if Harris is not immediatly better, he has more upside. If he is at all coachable, then we got a good deal imo. Besides, we signed him to a safe contract for the team iirc.
Win, lose, or tie, Raiders till I die!
